Blog Lesson: How to Do a Blogspot Search

One of my Zumba friends asked me how she could find the soba recipe on my blog.

For people who are not used to looking at blogs a little instruction is needed so I'm going to do a little Blog 101 here.

The recipe is still on my blog page so by just scrolling down, you can find it.   I have my blog set to display the 10 most recent blog posts.  When you get to the bottom, you can click on the words Older Posts and it will take you to the previous posts I've written.  If you click on Home, it will take you back to the current post.

To do a search of the blog this is how you do it.

On the top left hand side of the blog you can see the search box.  Just type in what you want to look for and then click on that tiny magnifying glass icon.  For example, if you typed in Japan you will get a ton  of posts I've written about our travels to that country.  If you type in Helpful Hints or Ideas, you'll get all those kinds of posts I've written.

I hope this helps.  It is confusing when you first start, but gets easier as you experiment.

  1. I have put the search widget onto both of my blog pages, and I use them quite often, looking for a previous hike or something I want to link. I didn't know about this one! :-)

  2. Thank You, Mrs. Kay -- I knew that kind of searching could be done, but didn't know how!

  3. You have a real inner calling to be a teacher, Kay, and such a kind and good one. Bless you.

I often tend to forget about that search tool when I'm looking for something in my blog. Thanks.

  4. I'll be darned. I had added the widget like Djan a few years ago and didn't notice the one at the top of the page with the new format. I use it to keep from repeating myself or to provide a link. Cool and thanks.

Oh, Mrs. Kay, Mrs. Kay --
I just looked over all the stuff at the top left corner of your blog. One option is to "share" via email. Will that just email the current blog, or the whole long history of past blogs?
Sometimes, I've wanted to forward your current info to my son, but didn't know how, or thought I'd have to push "print" and it started printing everything.

    1. I already have a post scheduled for tomorrow, but on the following day I will do a lesson on "Sharing." Thank you for asking, DrumMajor. Teachers always like their class to ask questions. :-)

  13. My blog is set up more or less the same way, but my search function is not all that good. I have to sit down and figure out how to improve it. One of these days.
