We have so many ways of taking photos these days from our iPhone, iPad and the other regular cameras we have. A rainbow popped up outside my window and I suddenly thought I'd try seeing how they would compare.
Here's the iPhone. Sorry to say I forgot to use the iPad and the rainbow is gone now. I used the Panoramic feature to get this that my super photographer friend, Dave Au taught me how to use.
This is Art's pocket size Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. I didn't Photoshop any of these photos, but I did crop them.
This is the Canon PowerShot SD 890 IS (Digital Elph) that I keep in my purse. It doesn't have much of a wide angle.
My Canon PowerShot SX 30 IS is a larger point and shoot which doesn't do as well in low light interior shots. However, this camera does have a wider angle which I always appreciate.
Both of my cameras didn't catch the double rainbow which Art pointed out. I told him they may have disappeared. Maybe...

What a delightful experiment! You've got two rainbows in the first one, but the sky is bluer in the last one. None of them picked up any leprechans, but you're certainly bringing those rainbows inside!
ReplyDeleteI notice most roofs are dark, which would seem to keep your houses warmer in the sunshine. I bet the folks with the white roof have a lower cooling bill.
Mahalo for sharing your lovely view. DrumMajor
your iphone got the double rainbow...interesting experiment. I find I've stopped carrying my new larger zoom camera around daily-it's too big but sometimes I need the flash and my phone doesn't have that...
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh , they are all beautiful!! You live in paradise!!
ReplyDeleteThe iPhone is superior. If it has a flash, I'd use it exclusively.
ReplyDeleteThe iPhone did a great job, but I like the colors in the last one the best. It was long enough between shots for the clouds to move, so I know i wasn't instantaneous between shots.
ReplyDeleteperfect rainbow
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how different the photos are!
ReplyDeleteThere are different qualities in each of the pics but all the devices took a good shot. It looks like you will always be prepared when a photo-op arises.
ReplyDeleteGetting the great shot is what counts, even if it's taken with a small or cheap camera. So I would go with first one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I usually can't get the whole rainbow.
ReplyDeleteThat top photo is wonderful. It captures both rainbows perfectly. I was thinking that as you went through the camera's, the top rainbow did fade away.
ReplyDeleteYes, wonderful idea about Post-its. I'll show G. Here we too have lots of rain, but I haven't seen a single rainbow, darn it.
The iPhone did the best because, as Art pointed out and I noticed--it catches the double rainbow. These camera phones are amazing. I had some printing done of my paintings and the guy at Tom Terrific didn't scan the pictures, he just photograped them with his android Samsung camera and they immediately went to his computer with strong, clear, beautiful pictures. By the way, from what I hear, Samsung phones with T-Mobile are closing in fast on the iPhone. Recent lawsuits have had no effect on Samsung's quality.
ReplyDeleteblessings....
ReplyDeletethe first photograph is the best one however in fairness they were all taken at different zoom so it difficult to truly say, in some photos the houses are nearer in some they are further hence the different view/capture. The first shot is further away hence capturing the double rainbow hence giving more depth of field and light. The others are zoomed in closer, you can tell this by the houses etc...zooming makes a big difference.
You're absolutely right! I shouldn't have cropped the photos so you could see the true image. I should take a photo of something that is not so transitory with the exact same Auto setting so you could really see the difference. I'll have to try this experiment again.
Deleteyou were good to catch the rainbow with all those devices, they don't seem to last very long! Lovely photos all!
ReplyDeleteBe sure and read ROOM WITHOUT WALLS blog on my sidebar. The subject there is also photography. I'm not a talented photographer and simply try to get a shot that is non-blurry.
