Decadent Doughnuts from Portland

My dear cousin, Arnold is a pilot for Hawaiian Airlines.  Before he flew home to Hawaii, he wanted to pick up something for us to try in Portland, Oregon.

He said they were Voodoo doughnuts which I confess sounded quite intriguing.

I have never seen anything like this in any of our travels.  Doughnuts covered with everything you could think of.  Mom's sweet tooth drew her to these little muchies immediately.  We cut them up and tried a little bite of each.  The bottom middle was the best.  We've got dessert for a week!

And a lot of exercising!

  1. What a neat idea to cut them up so all could taste them. They look positively decadent.

    1. Aren't they ever? Very creative, but I would never want to admit to my nurse practitioner that I ate them.

  3. Kay,
That box looks so scary, but not nearly as scary as what is inside!
That looks like Froot Loops covering one of them, crazy!
I must be the only person in the world who does not care for doughnuts! Such a shame because at work, people bring them in for a treat and I never eat any!! :-)

    1. You really have to eat that Froot Loops donut fresh because they get soggy fast.

  4. I think a little of any of those would go a very long way - my teeth ache just looking at them.

  5. Hmmm. I think I will stick with Krispy Kreme donuts from Maui. Lol.

    1. I like my donuts fresh. The Komoda Bakery on Maui make the best donuts, I think.

  9. Youngest Son went to Oregon last summer, and one of the things on his list of Places To See was Voodoo Doughnuts. He said it was very interesting.

  10. They do look delicious! I'll have to look for those when I get back to Portland! Hopefully, I stop with just looking and not trying to sample them!! I don't have a weight problem, but I don't want one either!!

  11. Wow! Those ARE the most amazing looking delectables. If I were hungry, they might tempt me, but right now I'm still full from last night's dinner. :-)

  13. Eeeeek! Wonder what the VooDoo baker looks like, (or what he's been eating!) Looks more like the kids spilled their cereal on the donuts. Prefer my Krispie Kreme's with maple or chocolate tops. (Freeze those for after the marathon?) DrumMajor

    1. To be honest, we left for Los Angeles soon after we got these donuts a week ago. When we returned last night I asked mom about the donuts and she said she enjoyed eating every last bite!

  15. I never could stand doughnuts, even before I had to start eating gluten free, but I have noticed that American style doughnuts, with all sorts of toppings, are appearing in the UK. There's a brand called Krispy Kreme, which would annoy me because of the spelling, let alone the look of them.

  17. They actually make a voodoo doughnut. It is shaped a little like a ginerbread man and has a piece of pretzel stuck in its chest. I don't know which one came first, the doughnut or the name of the business.

  18. Lovely treats and you can just say you had cereal for breakfast leaving out any mention of the doughnut part.
