After we took KC to school, Tiffany wanted to take us shopping. She had a coupon for a free t-shirt at North Face.
And you KNOW Art needs another t-shirt, right?
After getting his rather nice Chicago t-shirt from North Face, we decided to go to L.L. Bean who were having a fabulous sale.
The rubber on Art's hiking boots had crumbled in Hawaii. It's amazing how the Hawaiian climate does that.
These hiking boots were just his size (he's got really, really wide feet) and the 40% off reduced price made it too good to pass up! (Now he's ready for his Molokai hike.)
Tiffany had Groupons for Mt. Everest restaurant which serves fabulous Indian food so she took us there for lunch.
Art loved his Tandoori chicken. Doggone it! I can't remember what I had. It was all wonderful!!!
Next stop was Whole Foods where Tiffany wanted to get her dad his favorite berry pie from Michigan.
We later visited happily with a lot of our old neighbors and caught up on all the latest happenings.
We were just in time to pick KC up at school. Tiffany always lets her play for several minutes before going home. She and her new friend were having a fabulous time! I was so pleased to see how much she was loving school and her new friends. I was also amazed to see how much she had learned after only a month.
Tiffany and Ed do not allow TV watching on school days. KC comes home and does her school homework, reads books and plays.
She was thrilled to have grandpa (and grandma) to play with again.
It was another full day and we went to bed early. Unfortunately, we were also waking up early at 2:00 AM. Our internal clocks were really having difficulty adjusting to the time change. On the positive side, neither of us got sick this time. We needed all our energy to keep up with KC.
POSTSCRIPT: I'm sorry about the weird posts that are going up and disappearing. I'm working on stories to go up of our trip before I forget and keep goofing up and clicking the button before I have it properly scheduled. Sigh... I must still be jet lagged.

It's a great idea to do all that good shopping on the mainland!
ReplyDeleteIts just such a lovely peek into your life with your family, it must have been wonderful visiting with them, I admire your daughter and her husband for their child raising techniques, I LOVE LLBean!!
ReplyDeleteHey Kay, I had a good look at your Indian dinner, and looks like you had Paneer Maakhni or stuff like that in addition to Tandoori Chicken and maybe Biryani (Rice). (Its the stuff with spiced paneer(fresh cottage cheese) in a spicy gravy, sitting in a metal container !
ReplyDelete:-)
Whatever it was, it was great. I loved the papadum and the samosa too... Yum...
DeleteLooks like you are having a fabulous time!
ReplyDeleteI love Indian and Thai food and get it spicy. It sure looks good, and I love your pretty new header, just right for fall... :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, DJan! That's Tiffany on the right side. It was such a lovely feeling to walk in the golden fall forest.
Deletefun to hear of your trip...can't believe your skinny husband has WIDE feet? My skinny hubby has narrow feet.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about Tiffany's smile that always fills me with happiness?
ReplyDeleteL.L. Bean 40% off hiking shoes? Wait, I'm coming!
Awww... thank you, Dina. It always makes me happy too. Unfortunately, what I see in my mind right now is that last image of her as we were leaving in the taxi. She was fine until the taxi pulled out and her tears began to flow. The haunting sadness I saw nearly made me want to get out of the car.
DeleteYep . . .
DeleteSeems like you kept busy on your trip. Just imagine, Kay. On Nov 1, David and I will board China Airlines in the morning, refuel in Japan, spend Nov 2 night in Taipei, and arrive in Delhi Nov 3 in the afternoon. On Nov 4, we will have dinner with Kavita and Ruprekha. Wheeee!
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to your posts. I should be able to actually go and read some blog posts by then. I'm still trying to catch up with my posts and doing our trip album for the family.
DeleteInteresting how Hawaii can break down shoes. I didn't know there was an L.L. Bean store in Chicago! I love their backpacks and coats. Last forever! KC seems to be tall for kindergarten? DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteI order their tank tops by mail. They're fabulous! FREE shipping even to Hawaii!
DeleteFun to see all the photos of you and Art enjoying yourselves with Tiffany and KC. Must be such a joy to get back and see them.
ReplyDeleteHa! Regarding waking up early because of jet lag: My brother from New York visited Hawaii and told the local hotel desk clerk to wake him up at seven in the morning. "No need," the desk clerk said, "since you're from New York, you will wake up at four in the morning." Sure enough, that's the way it was---at four o'clock in the morning his eyes sprang wide open. And there were other Mainland families wandering around on the streets too, killing time and looking for some place, any place, to be open.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like lots of good eating and good fun on that day!
ReplyDeletethanks for taking us along. First class all the way
ReplyDeleteAloha from Honolulu
