Then There Are Those Weeks...

We spent a couple of these past weeks pretty busy with planning for our big Skyping Japan pot luck party and building the long handrail.  But this past week has been pretty calm and laid back with nothing much on our schedule.

Suddenly we looked at our schedule for this week and it's packed to the gills.  How did this happen?

Monday:  Zumba for me
Tuesday:  6 AM Farmers Market, Ophthalmologist appointment for mom in the city, take mom to visit her sister, Grace
Wednesday:  early morning blood test at Tripler, shopping at commissary for party,  dinner out with girlfriends
Thursday:  Tai chi, dinner party with my brother's family
Friday:  Art's breakfast with classmate,  Zumba, hair cut
Saturday:  Wedding reception in the city

This is Stephanie our wonderful Zumba Gold teacher.  We didn't have Zumba over the summer because there was a "Summer Fun" program for children on break using the recreation center.

It's nice to be back.  It's pretty amazing how quickly your body gets lazy.  The wonderful thing about it all was to see my Zumba friends again.  It was so lovely to be greeted with hugs and smiles of happiness at being back together again.

My body protested a little and we were all sweating by the end of the hour.   My back is much better now and pretty much back to normal.

It's true.  Exercise is good!

  2. We have Zumba offered at the Y where I work out. I've thought about taking the class but it's not a very good time for me. Now you have me wanting to go! :-)

  3. I try to limit our days to one thing a day. Days we have doctor's appointments, we do not cook. I hate exercise. My exercise is housework and garden. That's enough thank you. I don't do Zumba owing to back issues (Scoliosis and Spinal Stenosis). We walk the dogs, occasionally.

    1. I take a Zumba Gold class for seniors. The exercise makes us move, but safely. Our teacher used to work for a hospital and she is very careful not to do moves that could injure any of her students. She's also careful to give us alternative moves for those with knee, shoulder or back problems which I really appreciate.

  6. With Tai Chi and Zumba, you're moving a lot. I sweat just from doing my PT exercises every day, so much that I feel I've already exercised for the day lol

I don't like keeping a schedule at all. I like doing things at my own pace and on my own terms. It's so bad no wonder I do what I do for a living. I didn't like the 5-6 periods during school years and welcomed college class schedules. I didn't like 9-5 employment and welcome my self employment. As husband would say, I'm such a renegade. I think the reason is I get pretty involved with what I do and can't segue well.

    1. If I don't keep a schedule, I'll forget what I'm supposed to be doing. My brain is like a sieve. PT exercises take a lot of effort. I remember when I had to do them. That's what scares me into doing things the right way.

As for schedules, I'm quite used to them because I was a teacher. I needed to know what I was doing and teaching to the minute every day.

  13. A sense of purpose is really important for everyone. You are busy and proactive just how it should be. I think you are an inspirational couple and a good act to follow. And i agree exercise makes you feel great...well after anyway.

    1. I don't know about the after. I'm not usually one of those who are exhilarated after exercise. I'm just tired. On the other hand, I agree with you... I feel great when I'm done. Definitely!

  15. I haven't joined an exercise class for a long time, since my kids were in the primary grades. I guess I'm a solitary exerciser. Walking is my chief form of exercise. I do need to get back to my PT stretched for core strength and my hand weights for upper body.
I like being scheduled too. Each day I jot notes on my planning calendar of what I hope to do the next day. It gives me a framework for my day.
