About a month ago, I changed my comment format. I thought it would make it easier to use the embedded form so that I could reply to questions directly underneath your comment. Then if anybody else wanted to also add their idea to a train of thought, they could. It felt more like a conversation for me.
I have some friends and relatives who still haven't commented, but read my blog. I love it that they do (of course), buuuuut... I sure wish they'd leave a comment just to let me know what they're thinking.
And just in case they don't know how to comment on this new format, I thought I'd do another tutorial.
When you get to the bottom of the post, click on the word comments.
That will open up the comment box.
If you don't have a blog or Google account, you can just click on Anonymous.
Write your comment in the comment box and remember to write your name so I know who you are.
Are you seeing how easy it is?
Now all you have to do is click on the Publish button.
If you want to preview what you wrote you can click on that button, but that's not necessary.
OK, you guys...
I'm waiting.

I'm here-can't sleep but I know how to comment! Great tutorial!
ReplyDeleteGracious! You and Gigi both couldn't get to sleep last night.
DeleteI am awake, too, but will head for bed soon.
ReplyDeleteYikes! You wrote this at almost 1:00 in the morning. Yes, yes! I hope you got a good night's sleep and woke up late.
Deletegreat tutorial Kay, hope more take the time to now leave a few words,
ReplyDeleteI may have to link to this nice tutorial of yours. Except for yours, all my comments come from readers I know only through blogging. I know some RLFs back in the Old Country also read the blog, but they have never left even one comment.
ReplyDeleteGood suggestion. I tried it and I like the effect. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI am dazzled by your use of everything technical. I do little to my blog for fear of dropping it into a void.
ReplyDeleteI changed my comments from embedded to full page, since some of my Wordpress friends were unable to comment. Blogger might have fixed that by now. You are one of my favorite bloggers so I comment as often as I can! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww... Thank you so much, DJan. And you know I am your #1 fan!
Deleteeverybody loves comments..
ReplyDeleteI like the new comment form. I have a question though. If you reply under my comment, do I get an email telling me this? Or do I have to come back to see your comment? I usually don't go back to a blog twice, so that would be too bad if I missed your reply. Of course, to read the answer to this question I will be back. haha
ReplyDeleteIt would be the same thing as the other form. If you asked to see a reply, you should still get an e-mail notifying you of this. Could you let me know if it's true?
DeleteWhen you changed your form, it became difficult for me to use. I am on WP so it should be almost automatic, but i have to type my blog address everytime. It pops up automatically on Mage's site. Boohoo. Dianne
ReplyDeleteOK this is my comment under anonymous. Dianne
ReplyDeleteDid it work better under Anonymous? I have the same problem when I write comments to Wordpress users. It won't let me comment except under the Wordpress back-up account.
DeleteI stopped using the embedded form a long time ago because there were problems with it, but they seemed to have fixed it. That's why I switched back. Doggone it, I know some people did have problems using it. I hope it resolves itself. I wonder what would happen to all my comments and others if I switched back.
I wondered the same thing as Betty above since I don't usually go back to a post twice.....I would not know that there was a reply to my comment.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some comments from those you are hoping to hear from.
I only go back to comments I made on other people's blogs perhaps 50% of the time so I'm sure I've missed some, too.
DeleteI have the same reply feature, it's a good thing!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I try to not read blogs, they are so addictive. For a thinker (me), it is heaven...bloggers generate so much to think about lol
ReplyDeleteL. from W.
I agree with you 100%.
DeleteI came back to see if you'd replied and you did, but I didn't get an email. There is also no where to "check" that I would follow up comments emailed to me.
ReplyDeleteThat's something I've been wondering about. Some people have that, and others don't....
Oh darn! I was hoping it would... You would think it would... but...darn...
DeleteI think the tutorial is a great idea. I have lots of family and friends who read my blog but never comment.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you, I love comments. My biggest problem is getting to all my favorites every day. I've got about one fifty here and on OD that I always read....many are personal friends, and I like to leave notes on their blogs. Sometimes I make it. Sometimes, oh guilt, I read two or three and have to remember all three when I leave a note. More guilt if I forget something. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel guilty when I can't comment for a while too. Right now I'm back doing my photo scanning so it's taking a WHOLE lot of my time. Everybody is very forgiving though.
DeleteI love comments, too. You get lots more comments than I do!!!
ReplyDeleteActually, often it's just me replying to cyber friends so the numbers are a little deceiving.
Delete:-)
As long as there's no 'subscribe to Atom' (??) requirement, my comments do get through.
ReplyDeleteKay,
ReplyDeleteI read your post daily. Your blog brings fun and pleasant stories...
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Mary!
DeleteIt's so nice to meet you. I love meeting my readers and hearing from them. It adds so much fun to my day. Thank you for writing.
I stumbled upon ur blog gee i dunno, maybe 6 months ago? I can't remember how... Probably while searching out a recipe or something. I too ready your blog almost daily.... I find your stories quite interesting. Just wanted to let u know :)

Yae, Sherry! It's so nice to meet you too!!! Thank you very much for your kind comment. I'm probably passing you on the street sometime on my way to tai-chi. This is so much fun!
DeleteYou get so many comments! I don't quite get it. The analytics show that I get quite a few visitors (around 50 a day) but very few comments. It does make me wonder. There are some blogs i read that have such inane topics and posts yet the comments pour in by the hundreds. I guess I just see the world differently than most people.
ReplyDeleteLike I told Kay D. the numbers are deceiving because there are days like today when I am replying to quite a few people. It raises the numbers. I also have a wonderful group of cyber friends here that visit each other quite often. My back-up Wordpress blog gets very, very, very few comments. I get some likes every so often, but Blogger with all its problems is my home.
DeleteHi Kay! Well that is a great tutorial, many of my non-blogger friends do tell me that they want to comment but don't know how to post one. This sure is a good help.
ReplyDeleteWith my kids and work I get little free time left with me for other activities but I want you to know that you are always on my mind.Regards.
Please feel free to use these photos to explain how to do a comment. What seems easy to Bloggers is not all that easy to others who don't blog.
DeleteI don't even know how you did this post, but I do know how to comment!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of readers who never comment as well. Most of them are relatives or friends. I know because when I see them and start to share something, they say "I know. I saw it on your blog." :/
I did a Print Screen, pasted it onto Publisher, added the arrows and then added the notes on PhotoShop.
DeleteI have friends who tell me the same thing. LOL
38? 38 comments?! WOWEEEE! That tutorial REALLY worked, LOL. ALWAYS something of value here, Kay.

Like I said to the others, quite a few of the comments today were my own. On the other hand I've not been able to visit everybody else today. Things kept happening. I'll need to catch up when I get some quiet time.
DeleteI enjoy reading your blog and all the helpful hints. I was interested when your mother had the plugs removed from her eyes because I was considering having them put in and it made me think that I might be trading one problem for another. Pat from Santa Barbara
ReplyDeleteBoth operations were supposed to have been successful, but one eye still tears up and overflows. The doctor can't understand why it doesn't drain like it should. The latest one which had the infection is working very well now and drains beautifully. She still has the plastic plugs in, but will have them removed in another month.
DeleteThank you so much for your comment, Pat!!! It's such a pleasure meeting you.
Hi Kay,
ReplyDeleteI am a regular reader of ur blog for more than 2 years..I everyday very dedicatedly visit ur blog..i love all ur posts and ur loving family..I always thought of commenting but something stopped me..I don't know what..moreover ur blog inspired me to open a blog of my own..though i find it very difficult to find a topic to post there..i envy how nicely u manage to write everyday without any fail..yesterday i could not get online and today after reading this particular post i thought that i should write what i feel about u n ur blog..after this post i felt i should not keep shut..
Love..Ranita Sinha

Wow! For two years? I am so grateful and touched, Ranita. It's such a pleasure meeting you. I do have to say it's a big challenge to post everyday, but it keeps my mind active which is a good thing at my age.
DeleteThank you so much for your comment, Ranita. Comments are a Blogger's lifeblood.
Your tutorial is a great idea. I love comments too but also find that many people read, try my recipes and still never comment! I can see that stats so I know a lot of people come by but only a few comments are ever left. Friends tell me or others how much they love my blog but I never leave a comment.I do wonder why. Anyway, love your blog and happy to comment!!
ReplyDeleteI've been told by a couple of friends that they are just not comfortable with being "out there" in cyber space. I have a couple of friends who prefer writing a separate e-mail to me and that's great too.
