In the Air Again!

We'll be taking the red-eye to Chicago tonight and I'm not looking forward to it.  We've been running around to the last day getting things packed, organized, bought, mailed, cleaned, cut, prepared, planned, scheduled, ETC.

Singapore

We talked to our daughter, Tiffany and know she is equally stressed.  She just returned from Singapore a few hours ago where she and KC were keeping our son-in-law company since he had a computer techie type job there to do.  I wish he could have come home together with Tif, but he's got a week more of work to do.  We told Tif she should stay with him and we could take care of ourselves... but no, she's come home and is running around filling the fridge and getting ready for our arrival.  It's a 24 hour travel epic from Singapore to Chicago!  Poor Tiffy.

I imagine we'll all crash (I meant go to sleep.) once we get there.

  1. Once you're all rested you'll feel so much better - obvious, I know, but sometimes the stress seems to take over and detract from the prospect of pleasure.

  2. I love to travel, but 24 hrs. in a plane would stress everyone. How often do they have to refuel?

  3. When I traveled for work, we went often from Colorado to East Asia, and it was always grueling, unless my boss was able to upgrade both of us to business class, and then I really enjoyed it. Good luck on your trip, and I also had to laugh when you said you would "crash."

  7. I was amused thinking: Gosh, you're doing to Tif what Art's cousin did to you when you got back from your trip! But, you are right: you could have let yourselves into the house, since you already know where everything is, having lived and visited there before. Anyway, have a happy vacation in Chicago!

  8. You have such great kids. It must have been stressful for your daughter, but I'm sure they are happy and excited as well. I can't believe all the traveling you do. One year we did Vegas 4x and I thought that was too much. Sightseeing takes a lot more planning and energy, which ironically we'll reserve for our retirement, if our health holds up.

  9. Have a wonderful visit, Kay. Tif is just like you, you know! And all the preparations will lead to a smooth comfortable visit for both parties.

  13. gigihawaii: Actually, it's not the same thing. This trip to Illinois was planned at the start of the year. KC has been waiting for us to come for several months.

Tif and KC's trip accompanying my son-in-law to Singapore happened the month before. They thought the trip might happen, but didn't know for sure until August. It's been wild for them! They were in Los Angeles for a wedding, came home for two days to do laundry, repack and left for Singapore for 3 weeks!

It's wonderful to be here, but we're all exhausted. I overheard KC telling Tif, "I can't believe grandma and grandpa are here at last."

  14. I just read your comment so I know you have arrived and are reunited with Tif and KC. I love KC's quote! I have come to understand that grandparents are almost as important to our grandkids as they are to us. Enjoy!

Hope all is going well on your trip.
