Art just got me this new pair of running shoes. He's forever trying to make sure I get exercise.
He refuses to believe the adage that you can bring a horse to water but can't force her to drink.
The Navy Exchange was having a sale on shoes so Art was determined that I get a new pair to replace my rather older Nikes.
I tried on several and was satisfied with a couple of pairs, but Art kept taking out more and making me try them on. Then I tried these Asics Gel-Cumulus 13 running shoes... not that I'm planning to run mind you. When I put them on it was like walking on a water balloon. I love the gels in the soles! I wanted to bounce.
Our son, Jon sent Art a subscription to this runner's magazine and he was looking at the first issue when he happened to see this article.

There was my shoe! AND it was rated as one of the best.
I tried it out this evening on our walk up the hill. I usually wear a 6.5 - 7.0 shoe. I'm wondering if the 7.5 was a bit too big, but I'm not sure.
Ah well... all I can say is the bottom feels fabulous!

those are some good looking shoes!
ReplyDeleteFeet that feel fabulous, wow, that's great!
ReplyDeleteI bought a pair of Naturalizer "running" shoes recently, and although I'm not about to take up running, I enjoyed an hour-and-a-half walk this morning, and am pretty pleased with myself. LOL

That's good to know, I need a new pair for our trip and so hoping we can pull it off. Mine are looking decidedly shabby but oh so comfortable. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to them, but these might tempt me. Thanks Kay!
ReplyDeleteTitchadshi Kay, enjoy your nice new shoes and wear them in good health.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. I need to buy a pair too. It's been years since I had "gym shoes." Somehow I have only hiking boots or sandals.
Don't bounce off the earth and into the clouds now.
Nice. I love Asics shoes. I'm in need of replacing mine right now. Hmmmm, off to the shoe store!
ReplyDeleteFantastic
ReplyDeleteMy daughter who is a runner swears by Asics... Glad u got a pair.
ReplyDeletefunny you should mention shoes. I bought some new stylish ECCO walking shoes for $120 for my trip to Iceland. I wore them for a walk the other morning and came back with two BIG blisters on my heels SO I've been barefoot since then. My feet have healed but I'm taking my old worn out walking shoes on my trip to Iceland...lol or cry?
ReplyDeleteI bought Asics for my last pair of running shoes (although I walk in them and don't run) and other than the expense, I've found them to be incredibly comfy and supportive. Before that pair, I've always been a New Balance girl. Your new shoes sure are pretty!
ReplyDeleteyour shoes look so good on you Kay. I could use a new pair myself, will have to try the new Gel ones! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sneaker endorsement, I too will be looking for a new pair of sneakers and I was wondering which one I should buy. Having a great fit makes all the difference in the world! Good luck with the exercising!
ReplyDeleteWhen I buy new gym shoes, I look at a couple of different brands (Asics, New Balance, or Nike) and choose whichever one is cheapest, as they all fit well.
ReplyDeleteI have not worn running or gym shoes in years. I own just 2 pair of shoes and those are SAS sandals, which I purchased from Macy's. Very comfortable and they don't give me blisters!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had those here. My daughter is a runner and would need a pair like that.
ReplyDeleteThey look really good!
I need new walking shoes, so I will look for this brand. I wear thick socks in my shoes, so I get a half size larger to acccommodate them. You sure have pretty feet. Perhaps the company that sells the shoes could use you as a model? Dianne.
ReplyDeleteI'm in need of a new pair, too, now I know which ones I'll be looking for!! Thanks for the tip, Kay! Hope your week is off to a great start! Bounce on, Girl!!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Very smart, Kay:-)
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, Barry and I sent off for new shoes and they arrived today. I've been wearing mine all day and they feel much more supportive than my old Nikes.
We don't usually go in for the 'His and Hers' look but we have the same shoes this time.
I've taken some photos and will post them later! (There's nothing like pinching someone else's blogging ideas;-))
Nice but too rich for my blood!!! My Reeboks work just fine for me.
ReplyDeleteChuck Norris could wear Asics and Nike AND Reebok at the same time. With only 2 feet.
ReplyDeletealoha,

This discussion goes round and round among hunters. The poor ones, like me, end up with cheapy walmart shoes. The older and wiser hunters (I qualify under the former part only) usually end up buying very high quality shoes because they know that hunter=walking and a lot of it and good shoes really help when you are trying your best to drag your lolling tongue across miles of arid dirt because that *$*^&%(()%*!!! deer won't stop walking. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteBy coincidence, I just chucked (no pun intended, Master Chuck) my last pair of hunting shoes into the rubbish bin. The soles were coming away from the uppers, but it still hurt to throw them out. Kinda like throwing out underwear despite the largish holes. I spent a long time on those shoes, they were cheap and didn't fit well so I ended up tearing the insoles (the soft inner soles inside the shoes) out carefully (they're only glued in) and then carefully glueing in a set of inserts from another shoe that I had cannibalised. The inserts are little gel like or plastic U shapes that go around the back of your heel to hold in your foot. When placed under the insole and then glued in place they shape the insole to hug your feet and voila, a much more comfortable shoe. There are also arch inserts for people with high arches (esp women). I know long distance runners who do similar things with all their new shoes. The new pair I took out of the closet last night are horribly uncomfortable by comparison, haven't made up my mind if I want to work that hard to customize these new ones yet, as the quality of these new ones is obviously quite a bit lousier than the last pair (different make), about $20. Blah.
In the old days we used to take very good care of our shoes, I remember the whole rack of shoe 'trees' my dad had in his shop. These were wooden model feet that you could insert into a pair of shoes and then crank up to open them wider, so they could be used to 'season' shoes to widen them if they were too tight, a common complaint. There were also provisions for inserting a little lump of metal to the outside of the little toe, to make an indent or bulge in the shoe if you wanted to make your little toe more comfortable. Back then all shoes were leather and expensive and you'd never throw them out, you would take them to be re-soled and re-heeled when they wore down. Thus the addage that a gentleman was 'well heeled' indicating he had just taken his shoes in for servicing, new heels. Nowdays everything is disposable, they're even trying to make humans that way (stem cells).

Oh! WHAT IS WITH WOMEN nowdays????When I get into the elevator, I see dress shoes on women with pointy noses like Pinocchio (the shoes, not the women) and hear them mumbling about Jimmy Choo. Heh?? I keep thinking the noses of these shoes are longer in order to hide a switch blade or something under there. I can't see the women in downtown honolulu wearing switchblades in their shoes. But I keep my distance anyway.

Chandan would love these shoes .He is always looks for comfort as he too runs regularly.
ReplyDeleteI used to run. No more. Creaks of old age...
ReplyDeleteI will be interested to see what you think of the size. I also wear a 6.5 to 7. I bought Asics Gel in a 7.5 a few years back because the sales person insisted I should. I really never like them. I hope it works for you because I love the Asics, the size just didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteThink I will look for some. I always complain that the shoes aren't comfortable in the soles. I wouldn't mind sturdy pillows strapped to my feet. I am totally at the comfort age.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I'm currently a New Balance person but your new shoes. If I remember I'll give those a look next time I buy athletic shoes. I hate athletic shoes and buy them over much protest.
ReplyDeleteWith those new shoes of yours, I'm going to have even more trouble keeping up with you!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to keep this in my notes...as I will be in the market for some new shoes soon.
ReplyDeleteL.
I like the looks of these shoes. It is hard to find good walking shoes but these look like they would work.
ReplyDeleteAsics are my FAVORITE shoe, too! In fact...I see that these are MY size! heehee! They really look great! I went to a shoe store today and looked at shoes! Enjoy your weekend! ♥
