Post Suggestion From My Angry Daughter

This article by the American Heart Association begins:

"Today, about one in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese, nearly triple the rate in 1963. With good reason, childhood obesity is now the No. 1 health concern among parents in the United States, topping drug abuse and smoking."

My daughter, Tiffany called yesterday with steam shooting out of her ears. "I have something for you to blog about!" she said. "Do you know what Rush Limbaugh said?"

"I really don't want to do a post about Rush Limbaugh," I smiled, while appreciating her wanting to help me come up with something to post about. "I don't want to give him the space or time of day on my blog. He is such a ...." (Never mind. I try to be civil on my blog. I do try.)

This is what I got from EW.com:

"On his radio show yesterday, Rush Limbaugh went on a three-minute rant, blasting First Lady Michelle Obama and her Let’s Move initiative directed at fighting childhood obesity, after she and her family were spotted at a restaurant in Vail eating short ribs. He called Obama a hypocrite for encouraging people to eat “cardboard and tofu… roots, and berries and tree bark” when “it doesn’t look like Michelle Obama follows her own nutritionary, dietary advice…I’m trying to say that our First Lady does not project the image of women that you might see on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, or of a woman Alex Rodriguez might date every six months or what have you.”

Why doesn't every single American recognize that this man is an absolute......? (I'm being civil.) Why does he have a radio show that transmits his venom and stupidity across our country? For that matter, why does Sarah Palin and Michele Bachman not want Michelle Obama to encourage parents to provide their children with a healthier diet?

And really...Does Rush Limbaugh only want people with swim suit model bodies to give dietary advice? I know a lot of people who won't be listening to their doctors from now on.

I'm adding a press photo of Michelle Obama here because I sure don't want to look at Limbaugh's face on my blog every time I open it.

  1. Rush Limbaugh is like a pig in his habits and in his svelte form. You notice his waist line bulges and his belt cuts into fat and his jowls are sagging and his cheeks are puffy. He makes a ton of cash off his radio show and TV spewing out filths and I wonder who the people really are who listens to him. So he owns a mansion in Florida and has been stood up and had his picture snapped for his habitual use of pain killing drugs. His mouth is like a fly trap and he is about as useful as a human being as a door stopper. He stays in the news by his preaching and might be the devil incarnate.

Michele Bachman in my opinion is nuts. And Sarah Palin is, in my view, a flashy lady who needs to go back to elementary school and learn a little bit more about the rest of the world.

You can delete this if you want to. I just can't hardly be civil when talking about these public figures. I do expect Rush Limbaugh to run for president soon as a Republican.

  2. I'm with you and Honest Abe. You've both said it better than I could hope to.

  3. What is wrong with the people who agree with Rush? I can't listen to him for 2 minutes without getting really annoyed. I give The First Lady a lot credit for taking on the cause of obesity in children. It is not only a health issue, and involves getting schools to provide healthier lunches. People should be cheering her on and volunteering to help the cause.

I think the almighty dollar is at the root of some of the evil...because healthier food costs more than carbs.

  4. Rush thinks Michelle Obama doesn't follow her healthy eating advice? Has he SEEN her? I think the picture you included shows how wrong he is.

  5. I think fighting the obesity epidemic is a good cause.

  6. What a funny post! Rush Limbaugh doesn't bother me because I pay no attention to him. I couldn't tell you squat about his likes or dislikes. People like Rush are what they are because of the attention they get. He doesn't get my attention.

  7. Michelle Obama looks so svelte in her fashionable clothes, she doesn't have to worry about eating ribs occasionally.

Rush Limbaugh, on the other hand, is so obese, his belly jiggles every time he walks. His jowls conceal his neck. Where's his neck so I can wring it!!!

  8. Rush Limbaugh is a hateful, pusillanimous fool and needs to be completely shunned.

  9. I wouldn't want to dirty up your blog, Kay, by writing what I think/feel regarding that hateful, disgusting, sick Rush Limbaugh!! We obviously have freedom of speech in this country if he is allowed to continue spewing his, venom and disgusting messages about any and everything!!! Great post! And thank you for not including a photo of the jerk!! I'd hate to lose my breakfast this early!!

    Have a great day anyway!!!

  11. Michelle Obama is a wonderful role model - bright, intelligent, healthy, outgoing. I don't know Rush what-his-name and it sounds as though I haven't missed anything!

  12. I think Michelle Obama is doing a great job as First lady. She sure looks good to me, WOW.

As far as listeneing to Rush, we have the control here. We can just change the dial.
He obviously (Rush) likes the sound of his own voice. Yuck!

  13. I thought Honest Abe did a great job of expressing what many of us feel about Rush and those two upstanding political women (I don't like to use their names and give them any more attention)and he managed to do it without swearing!
Michelle Obama is in great shape, and the fact that she has wide hips shows us that real women can look good.

  14. I could listen to Rush Limbaugh only 10 seconds and no more. During 10 seconds, one thing came to my mind, which is...

  15. Yoshi: Thanks for the video clip. I tried to see it but the message said the clip is not available in my country. That's the first time I've seen that message.

  16. I don't know who Rush Limbaugh is, but he sounds like a complete *&^% (sorry, I'm trying to be polite too!!). It's the swimwear models who are responsible (well not personally, but perhaps the magazines are the responsible parties) for a lot of eating problems. Too many young people don't eat enough trying to look like them, or eat too much in despair that they'll never look like them. We too have far too many overweight children in the UK, let alone the overweight adults, but diet alone is never going to solve the problem. A healthy diet needs to go along with a healthy lifestyle.

  17. I have never listened to Rush Limbaugh and probably will never have to do so.
I admire your First Lady for helping tackle such a grave (pun intended) problem.
When I was a teenager, I was skinny, and so were most of my schoolmates, because we walked, we ran, we climbed, we cycled, we skated, we swam...
Television was a new thing and our watching carefully monitored by our parents. We never thought we had 'rights' - we had 'privileges' earned by chopping and carrying wood (yes, I could do that), hanging clothes out on the line whatever the weather (it was fun when the clothes froze), paper routes, babysitting, cleaning our own rooms and helping Mom with cooking and housework.
I had one bicycle - so ugly no one would want to steal it - and if I was on my way anywhere other than school, I had to let my sister ride on the seat while I stood up to pedal.
Okay, this sounds like walking barefoot to school in the snow, uphill both ways, but it's true. Excess weight was not a childhood problem in the 1950s.
However, it is now, and I applaud Michelle Obama for putting herself out there, where she is open to the criticism of such people as Limbaugh.
And I applaud you, my friend, for using a picture of Michelle Obama instead of one of Rush Limbaugh.

  18. Rush Limbaugh is the guru of hateful, unloved people. He is a person, also, of evil personal habits which are well known. And let's face it: racism is hardly dead in this country. He is expressing contempt for Michelle Obama based on her race.
Out on the beach yesterday there were a lot of citizens with far from ideal bodies, including myself, who were enjoying life nonetheless, swimming and snorkeling. I feel sorry for people who avoid outdoor recreation because they have been shamed into believing that they are too ugly to expose their bodies to the gaze of others in public.
I think we ought to lay off each other while not forgetting that we need to take care of our health as best we can.

  19. Perhaps Michelle Obama can use this to help her Lets Move project. Eating foods high and calories and fats occasionally is okay. And not everyone is suppose to be swimsuit model thin. As long as she is within the ideal weight for her height and body frame she should not be compared to a late teen early 20 model!

  20. I know that that you know that I totally agree with you! I wrote about this yesterday and wasn'r as polite! Rush is a huge wart on the backside of humanity.

  21. Thanks for not making us have to look at a picture of Rush when we read your post.

  22. Rush could not be accused of being a rational thinker nor could he be accused of knowing the truth is it came up and shook his hand.

The thing that amazes me is that people are interested in getting a photo of Michelle eating ribs to 'prove she is some sort of hypocrite.' The truth is, she has a life and she lives it well. She understands balance. She skis. She eats. She enjoys life. Too bad those listeners don't get a life.

Rush feeds lies of those who want to not think for themselves.

  23. Gosh, what an echo chamber of intolerance.

I'll have to check to see how many human first-born this feller has eaten. (Right after I check & make sure this isn't a hoax, those two words sure don't sound like real names to me [Rush Limbaugh])

[After that] Okay it is a real person! (Struggling with the concept that parents with a surname that sounds like a type of cheese would give their son a VERB for a christian name)

I'd be keeping in mind that while this [first name- Verb: Surname- Cheese] said this stuff, he does have a market to supply. He's made quite a business/following from talking this stuff up, & he'd be constantly talking up ANYTHING that he could get to go over with his market.

    Listeners = advertising $$$

Michelle Obama is a hottie. However that photo IS a press release by her. Just for the heck of an alternative view of her, I'll post a couple of other snaps of the lady.

He's halfway got a point. She is a Harvard law graduate (a negative mark) married a man without character, who has yet to hold down a steady job. The husband's saving grace is he's made (or going to make) a lot of money & be able to keep her in style.

And he'll have to, as she's living it up Marie Antoinette style, while the rest of the country is being told to tighten it's belt.
