We went to Costco today to pick up my new glasses. It's the first time I've gotten bifocals. They're progressive. I chose a big frame to protect my eyes better from UVs. The technician said it's really a man's frame.
I like the frame. I hate the glasses. I just can't get used to the progressive bifocals. I almost got motion sickness from wearing them. The technician said I need to wear them for a month to get myself used to them.
It's so hard to find that "sweet spot" where I can read print as well as looking up for distance viewing.
I sure hope I can get used to this because I really don't like it!
Hi --
ReplyDeleteYou will get used to it, I promise. It only feels funny for a little while. Be careful walking on uneven surfaces, up and down stairs, off the curb to the road, etc., though. But it won't take long. You can do it! I did it, so did Dick.
Hi to Art, and hi from Dick.
Luv, K
That's a sweet picture, Kay; they look good on you.
ReplyDeleteI tried progressives once but they didn't work for me.
Good luck.
I love your picture -- new glasses and all, Kay! Wishing you and Art and your Mother and your family a wonderful, holiday! Enjoy!

The new glasses suit you well Kay. I have vari-focal lenses in my glasses, but was lucky to get used to them very quickly. My husband tried them and has found it vry difficult to come to terms with them. Best wishes for succeeding with yours.
ReplyDeleteIt's strange to see you with glasses. I am so used to seeing you without them. Are they photo-gray?
ReplyDeleteOh, I guess you call them progressive? Pretty cool!
I hate to wear glasses, so I told David not to buy a 3D TV that requires glasses. Wait for new technology...
Gigi: The progressive lens are bifocals with no line across the middle. Transitions are the glasses that change to dark glasses in sunlight. I did get those, too. They are gray in sunlight instead of brown.
ReplyDeleteYou look mahvelous dahling! (Doing my best Zsa Zsa immitation)
ReplyDeleteYour glasses look great! I've had progressive lenses for a long time now. You just have to learn to turn your head instead of moving your eyes in peripheral vision. looking down as in going down steps, and in finding that sweet spot, too. It will come. Just be careful with your balance until you get used to them.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get used to them in no time.
ReplyDeleteI'm on my second pair now, and I was surprised when I had another learning curve with the new ones.
Kay, I hated mine at first but I don't think it even took me a week to get used to them -- on the other hand, when I was putting up our Christmas decorations I climbed onto the kitchen counter, and when it was time to get down, I once again remembered the one thing I have never gotten used to -- the bifocals change depth perception. When one looks through them at the ground, it isn't where one thinks it is.
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves his progressive trifocals. I think would drive me nuts!
