You're never too old to see another point of view and learn from it.
I was just talking to my son and he said he did not like my post about people who send holiday cards with printed address labels and pre-printed cards with their names printed on the card itself and nothing else.
"That post sounded self-righteous, Mom," he said. "That friend spent nearly a dollar to send you that card. They might be just too busy, but they wanted to maintain contact. They obviously consider you friends that they want to keep and you are not appreciating it. That's not right."
Well, he's right. I am contrite and will take his admonishment to heart. It is a time to appreciate all the connections that friends make during this season and be grateful for it.
Happy Holidays, everybody!
Our kids so often see things differently.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dina, our kids do so often see things differently!
ReplyDeletei love the way our children can see something a different way and make us understand another way of accepting things. my daughter continues to inspire me in this way often. hope all is well. have a great day.
ReplyDeleteIt probably cost more than a dollar. After all, postage alone is almost half a dollar. But, regardless of the cost, what was the spirit behind it? Did the sender consider it a chore to send that card? Something to do out of duty and get it over with?
ReplyDeleteOur children often see things differently, perhaps more clearly, than we do.
ReplyDeleteOut of the mouths of babes...
ReplyDeleteLove your header!
He's not necessarily right.....it's just his opinion. Happy holidays.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the wisdom of our kids? I also am always thankful when my children are honest with me and give me the best advice.
ReplyDeleteWho knows who was right, but it is always good to have another perspective.
Ah, yes indeed, out of the mouths of babes. We can all use a different perspective now and then. We frequently tend to react differently to the same thing and it doesn't necessarily make one right and one wrong -- just different. Sometimes a good difference, sometimes not so good, but it never hurts to give almost anything a second look.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, celebrate our differences!

I agree with your son, since I send out christmas letters made on the computer but I have to find and purchased just the right designed stationary-then print it off plus envelopes with addresses from my computer file. If I had to write them all out I wouldn't do it, and I want to keep in touch with about 65 family and friends each year. so it does take time and thought and money to do it all. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteKay thanks for sharing his feedback. Great that he feels able to give you his honest opinion.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only our children who learn from us, but we can learn a lot from our children, if only we open our ears to hear. You are a great Mom for listening Kay, we can all learn something from this post.
ReplyDeleteNothing stings quite as much as being corrected by our own children! I got one of those yesterday too, and it still smarts.
ReplyDeleteI did agree with you somewhat, and as I have been getting cards, I have thought about what you wrote and I've really noticed any personal touches. It does matter.
