My super TECHIE son-in-law, Ed is here. In between having to do his own techie work, he's also updating our computer system. Art's laptop was seriously in trouble so Ed helped us get a new one for a really great deal.
I was going to buy a new desktop, but Ed felt I'd be better off just refurbishing and upgrading my present machine. He's working on that, too... adding more memory, a UPC hub (?), a bigger monitor, etc.
Since we're in the transitional stage and my desk top is right now being worked on, I'm using Art's brand new laptop without my photos.
Therefore, it'll be a bit before I'm back in full operation again.
In the midst of all the holiday rushing to and fro, I've received terrible news this morning from two dear friends. One has a grandbaby who will be undergoing a critical operation in the next few days. My other friend's husband has been diagnosed with cancer that has already spread.
It's made me stop in this holiday rush to contemplate what life might have waiting for us around the corner.
Tomorrow, we'll take KC to Discovery Center and spend the day with her after dropping her parents off in Waikiki. We'll take the day as a gift and make it something to remember and hold dear.
Looks like you are up late. I hope it's not for worrying. You are right to embrace the day and treat it as if there weren't many more, but with the assurance that there will be.
ReplyDeleteMy son-in-law is also our tech go-to guy. He upgraded my little net book when we were there in October. When he's here, he gets everything working better. And the better it works, the better I like it!
Glad to hear KC's daddy is now on the scene. Have fun, one and all!
You have a terrific son-in-law, Kay! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteDon't know where Discovery Center is. I asked David, and he suggested that it might be in Discovery Bay, that complex in Waikiki. Looking forwward to seeing pictures, if possible! Enjoy the day.
sounds like you'll be getting some good computer time in after all the new & updated equipment is installed. i'm sorry to hear about your friends. my heart goes out to them both. a child should never have to endure operations and your friend's husband is in my prayers. will he be able to fight the cancer even though it's spread? It's scary to think about what will happen to us down the road for sure. hope all ends well with both your friends. have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSounds good!!!! Upgrading is always an adventure!!! I hope your friends get through their trials well. I don't worry about the future much -- I have enough problems dealing with now.
ReplyDeleteWonderful that he's there and that he's kind enough to take care of all your electronic needs. You will have a great day with your granddaughter, I know this.

ReplyDeleteYes, we certainly learn to seize the day when we get to a certain age. The little children are such a delight.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear the bad news Kay, especially at this time of year. We really don't know what life has in store for us. On the good side, you have Ed fixing your computers.
