There were a lot of tents set up with kid entrepreneurs. They were so cute.

I couldn't resist getting more books, not when they're selling for a quarter a piece.

We're going to have so much fun reading these to KC.
Our next stop was Ross to find a comforter for the duvet cover. Couldn't find anything, but our Prius was happy to find a few relatives in the parking lot.Target was next. We're seldom successful in finding things there, but this time, they had just the comforter we were looking for at just the price we were willing to pay! Yahoo!

We celebrated with saimin (Hawaii type noodle soup) at Shiro's. (Oops! I ate some of it before I remembered to take the photo.)
What a great day!
Art is very happy that this first full day of sun is enabling the solar panels to produce maximum energy. Hmmm... maybe I'll turn on the air conditioner....
Soup looks very good, Kay. Also liked the Prius.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my old blog. And the comment about my red tongue. Answer is yes. Too much time on my hands that day.
Yes, the saimin looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteA quarter per book? Wow, that is a bargain. Maria likes to buy activity books for Julia. She buys them from Costco and Walmart. That's how Julia learned how to write her name.
How do you eat a soup with chop sticks? :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some deals. I bet KC will love those books!
sounds like a perfect day...
ReplyDeleteBooks are always a bargain, no matter what the price! Too bad you didn't find a comforter to put inside your duvet cover, but I'm sure you'll find one soon, as the color doesn't really matter, does it?
ReplyDeleteI'm also fascinated by the soup. Looks delicious, but I don't think I could eat it with chopsticks because I'd need a knife for some of those things.
Dick was looking up restaurants on Kauai last night. I told him I don't want to be eating at McDonalds, I want Hawaiian food. Maybe I should look things up myself, not listen to him reading lists of restaurant names. I should find out what really is Hawaiian food before we get there.
I'm happy about your solar panels. That's great!

Kay: We did find the perfect comforter for us. Unfortunately, I burned it in the dryer. It was too big and didn't tumble well enough. Ah well... we're using it anyway.
ReplyDeleteSaimin is a staple dish in Hawaii. Everybody eats it. It's really quite easy to eat with chopsticks and a spoon because the pieces are all bite sized.
My ex loved saimin when he was stationed at Pearl Harbor and would make his own variation using ramen noodles. It was good.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you and KC will have wonderful adventures!
Glad you're feeling better!!!!!
It sounds as though you found some bargains - well done :-)
ReplyDeleteGo for it, turn on the air conditioner! Enjoy that small comfort in life.
ReplyDeleteKey;
ReplyDeleteJim and I have the flu(and we even got flu shots), so your soup looks so yummy to me.
It's so great to have your solar panels , installed and working.
oh your saimin looks delicious. glad you found a comforter. and bought those lovely books for KC.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see such fairs here! I cannot believe how great condition the books are in and for such a bargain! How fun it will be to have KC snuggle up with you and be read to.
ReplyDeleteOh, AC! NOW I understand why someone in Hawaii would want solar panels. I tend to think of them only in terms of heating a house, which I know isn't necessary in Hawaii. But air conditioning? Yes. Your day out and about sounded very productive.
ReplyDeleteWe are a book family. Gus is a good book. I like the notes him and the boy leave each other!I can't pass up books. With Aspen I have had to tell her to put the book down and go outside! The librarian asks her for ideas on new books to order:) Now Matthew! He has been read to since I was pregnant with him. He is in first grade and flat out refuses to read! I can't wait for him to finally take off!
ReplyDeleteI bet the variety of possible things to get was simply over whelming. Is it only in Hawaii we say "saimin," instead of that "ramen"?
ReplyDeleteToday I replaced my 30-year-old comforter at Bed,Bath/Beyond and bought a duvet. They were on sale, but for winters in a warm waterbed, I get a really fluffy comforter. No AC in KC right now! I sent my nieces 6 boxes of kid books by the time my "baby boy" outgrew them. DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteKids selling their stuff? Nice!
ReplyDeleteKC will love her old-new books.
A great day indeed. I enjoyed looking at your selection of books, the one with the little gecko, I've never seen that before, with an Hawaiian theme as I see the palmeria? Not sure if I have the spelling right. Just remember its smell was/is divine.
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks yummy, almost forgot to mention how delicious that looked :)
ReplyDeleteI like the looks of the duvet cover and the color. No matter how you eat the soup, it looks so yummy. Thank you for coming by and have a nice Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteNext time I am in Hawaii, I am eating Saimin everyday. I miss it so!
ReplyDeleteI used to always be on the hunt for books to take to school as money was so short for library and the other classrooms....
