Halloween Memories

I was going to post this tomorrow on Halloween, but I'm going to the Rally for Sanity today so I'll be posting about that instead.

When I saw my granddaughter, KC's costume for Halloween, I told her she was a cute fairy. Nope. She's a dragonfly with a wand, I was informed. Here she is trick-or-treating at Old Orchard Mall in Illinois.

Halloween is here with a lot of Illinois memories.

In 1980, Tif was a witch. I dressed Jon as a 50 lb. bag of rice. I guess you have to be from Hawaii to understand this joke.

In 1981, Tif was a witch. Since nobody could figure out what Jon was the year before, I turned him into a ghost instead with some old sheets. I'm not sure people could quite figure that one out either.

In 1982, Tif was a witch. Success! Everybody knew that Jon was a cowboy!

Happy Halloween, everybody!

  1. Haha!!! Since my real name is Glenda and the Wizard of Oz featured Glinda the Good Witch of the North, guess what, I always dressed as a witch. Not too hard to do with my waist length hair.

  2. Oh, the pictures of your children are so cute. I loved visiting my family at the coast on Halloween. I think I'll try to get out there next year.
Oh, yes, I've finally figured out how to make a signature so I don't have to type "Kay, Alberta, Canada" every time I comment on someone's blog. Now it's easy, so I included the name of my blog as well.

  6. The last pic of Jon, wow, he looks so grown up.
Those were the years we were there. But I have no recollection of what Naomi and Edo were for Halloween. Maybe a witch.
And now we see our grandkids in costumes . . .

  8. I think there are beginning to be a few Halloween happenings here in the UK now, but nothing like as much as in the USA. Certainly when my boys were little it wasn't even thought of. Though I've got several pictures of them dressed up for other occasions.

  13. I love seeing Tiff and Jon when they were little. So cute. I get the 50 pound bag of rice joke. I'd have loved it.

Oh, Amoeba's missing suitcase has been located. It seems it went to Las Vegas.

  15. What cute photos! They remind me of my childhood too, and the annual Costumes-On-The-Front-Step photo shoot LOL

This year was my kids' first ever Trick-or-Treating Halloween, and my son went as Elwood Blues. Folks got it or they didn't -- the ones who got it loved it so much that it was worth all the what-are-yous!

I hope KC had a lot of fun this Halloween! She's beautiful in her costume, and I'm *sure* dragonflies have fairies too?!
