One of my wonderful high school friends (and college roommate), Jo just stopped by with a belated birthday veggie tray. What a surprise! She'd been on an Alaskan cruise and had me transfixed with stories of their fun adventure. Crab, bacon, waffles, fabulous desserts, chocolate bar, lobster... Oh, and then there were the scenery and glaciers, too. I've told Art we have got to go. I wonder if I can convince my mom to go. Maybe if I mention the chocolate table?
Everybody seems to be doing the cruise. My cousin just came back from the Alaskan cruise and then sent his mother and sister because he enjoyed it so much. I know there was somebody else who also went. Are we the only people who've never been on a cruise?
What's even more amazing is that Jo lost a bit of weight; so did her husband, and he ate the bacon, the lobster, the desserts... sigh...
It was extra sweet of Jo to bring a veggie tray gift instead of a sweet thing since we've been rather inundated with sweets which has caused the triglyceride problem for me.
OK... now then... that cruise... Jo says it wasn't very, very expensive....
And there was that chocolate table...
Jo says there were lots of ways to exercise the calories away on the ship. Hmmmm...
I've gone on several cruises and I love them! I would love to take the Alaska cruise, but at this stage I'm afraid that's out of the question. I do enjoy reading blogs of several friends who've gone on the Alaska cruise this summer and their photos are fantastic! That is a yummy looking tray!! Birthday, birthday???? Have you just had a birthday, Kay!! If so, I send you lots of good wishes, hugs and lots of love! Enjoy!

Yes, happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteI will never go on a cruise, cause I get seasick.
happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious! I love veggies and dip. Happy Birthday, Kay!
ReplyDeleteI am taking it from your post that it is your birthday! Happy Birthday, dear Kay!
ReplyDeleteI have been on an Alaska Cruise. It was a family affair as Jill, Corey and 18 month old Isaac went with us. It was a fabulous trip! I did not lose weight, but we did spend lots of time walking the prominade deck and letting Isaac run. We had adjoining rooms, ours with a window, theirs interior. Isaac would take a nap each afternoon with the baby monitor on and whoever got the duty would rest up and read in our room with a view and monitor. It worked great.
My highlight was the helicoptor ride into the mountains and landing on a glacier! I've not been on any other big cruise ship, but the Alaska cruise was terrific.
My car has been on two Pacific cruises, but I haven't been on one yet! I keep telling Amoeba that isn't fair.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Kay! What a great idea...a veggie birthday tray, I've never heard of that before
ReplyDeleteYour tray of crudites and dips looks delicious. I've never fancied a cruise particularly, having the same scenery around you for so long doesn't appeal, nor does not being able to get off unless for planned stops. But visiting Alaska does seem like a good idea, so if you fancy a cruise you'll have to start working on Art.
ReplyDeleteVegetables for a birthday? OK ...
ReplyDeleteHave a happy birthday anyway, Kay!
I read about an older woman who decided that, instead of moving into a nursing home, so expensive, it would be cheaper and more fun just to go from one cruise to another and live aboard ships.
Happy Birthday To You !That veggie tray looks beautiful and colorful.
ReplyDeleteEven i have never been to a cruise before -the idea of spending few days totally on a ship is not very appealing to me.
Thank you, everybody! Actually my birthday was last month, but Jo was on her cruise so it was a belated birthday treat. :-)
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... I think I'll make that correction on the post so no one gets confused.
ReplyDeleteI've never been on a cruise but did talk with hubby about going on one to Alaska this summer but it didn't happen...lol! Happy belated birthday.
ReplyDeleteI know of 3 people that went on the Alaska cruise and they loved it! You and Art should go, hopefully your Mom would want to go too! It sounds wonderful! That was nice of your friend to bring you the veggie tray-it looks yummy!! ENJOY!!
ReplyDeleteThe only cruises I've been on have been to Alaska, and they are fabulous. Like Linda, we've taken the helicopter to a glacier and loved it. We've also loved the dinner cruises to watch for whales, and the narrow gauge railroad trips up the Yukon trail.
ReplyDeleteYou should put it on your list of things you want to do. I think I'll be taking my mother next year....a bonus after having her knee replaced.
The veggie dish is a lovely gift and very thoughtful.
