Our sweet neighbor's daughter came to visit from the mainland and brought over a HUGE guava chiffon cake for us. I cut the cake into halves tonight and then served each of us a sixth of a slice for dessert. It was still a huge slice. We'll have the other half of the cake tomorrow because... after all... you can't waste food. What is the matter with me? I shouldn't be eating this! I shouldn't have eaten all the noodles I ate on Maui either. I shouldn't have eaten the mochi (glutinous rice dessert) or the other cakes, pies, candies, etc. that have been given to me.
I shouldn't, but I did.
I had a blood test yesterday. I'll be seeing my nurse practitioner on Thursday. It won't be good. I haven't been able to exercise for all kinds of reasons. I am pre-diabetic and I was warned that if I didn't turn myself around again, she would have to make me start the blood check everyday.
Sigh...
Not good.
I wonder if she'll give me another chance.
Self Control??
ReplyDeleteForget eat.
That's too bad. Eating carbs is so necessary. It gives you energy. Six years ago, I started the Atkins high-protein diet to lose weight and ended up with sky-high cholesterol.
ReplyDeleteDoc said, "You will lose weight, but you will also have a heart attack."
Aaargh! But, I missed the carbs so I gladly went off the diet. I am fat, but my test scores are all normal. For how long, I don't know.
Good luck to you!
well, just eat some..it won't harm..take care. Btw, I hv a new blog.
ReplyDeleteKay that cake looks marvelous! I doubt I could pass up a piece of that lovely confection either! Hope your blood work results is favorable.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard not to give into temptation sometimes, especially if you have a sweet tooth. And sometimes your body just craves something sweet and stodgy.
ReplyDeleteit's your body giving you another chance you should worry about...lol!
ReplyDeleteI've never tasted guava, but the pie looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your blood work.
Enjoy - and be good later ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell, we tend to fill up the house with goodies when the kids are here. I still have one tub of ice cream in the freezer. It will talk to me until it is gone. I can either eat small portions over a longer period of time, or eat big servings to use it up faster. Either way I will eat it. but then I will not buy any more. I'll want it but I won't have it.
ReplyDeleteSelf control in eating is hard for me. Food is my drug of choice. So it's best to avoid having the good but bad stuff around.
By the way, you could wrap up half a cake and freeze it until you need a company dessert.
That dessert would certainly tempt me. I would probably not be able to resist it.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping for good results on Thursday.
beautiful blog..pls visit mine and be a follower.. thanks and God bless..

That must be so hard, Kay.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the blood test. It is not easy eating these days, with all the wonderful things to buy and make. I am diabetic and I take insulin and check my blood and this is all because I did not do what the doctor said years ago, sigh. Have a nice week and try to be good.
ReplyDeleteGosh Kay who could resist that cake? Good luck with your tests anyway...
ReplyDeleteToo much temptation! How can you be blamed when people bring it to you! Enablers, all of them! Have they never heard of tough love?
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose this is a test you could cheat on ....
Oh my goodness..I will have to wipe away the drool...a treat once in a while is ok..it's keeping it to the once in a while that is hard...
ReplyDeleteHi Kay ! This cake looks so yummy and fluffy....can't blame you .Blood test results are going to be fine ...you are a very active person and indulging once in a while is ok . I am sure it is not a regular thing.
ReplyDeleteThat cake does not tempt me at all. Lucky, since I am also borderline diabetic. For me the worry is salt. I love salty food like cheese and salami. I have learned to keep that under control, and my blood pressure stays in the normal range now. For some reason, my cholesterol is always OK, no matter how much fat I eat.
ReplyDeleteBalance is the key.
Sometimes I think the shouldn'ts are taking away the joy of life. Maybe the bad feelings they create are actually affecting how our bodies respond? How's that for a theory! Sometimes I think we were better off not knowing all these things and just taking pleasure in food.
