However, my cholesterol had jumped up along with my triglycerides. What the heck! OK, the triglycerides are affected by sugar and carbs, but why didn't my glucose go up also? I don't get it.
She wanted me to go on a higher dose of Lipitor to get my cholesterol and triglycerides down, but I promised to get back to my walking. Therefore she's giving me a reprieve until November. I've got three months to walk.
She says it will help the back butt pain, too. That was a surprise. I was trying not to move it too much. She says I need to get out there and move.
The problem is I've been totally consumed with the scanning, organizing and formatting of my mother's genealogy (over 200 new photos from Japan that my grandmother had)as well as Art's mother's and father's photos and genealogy. It's been an obsession since the start of the year. I was also working on scanning our own family photos. This means I've been on my butt a whole lot and not doing much of anything else. I can't even get to my regular blogging visits lately... mostly in spurts.So...OK then... At least I don't have to do the needle pricks again. I just need to move... sigh...
By the way... Did anybody see the Perseid Meteor Shower? Art and I actually went out to a park tonight to get away from street lamp lights and stare at the sky. Nothing.
So you got mostly good news?
ReplyDeleteKay, you are allowed to take an hour off your project to go walking. You owe it to the big family. If you get sick and can't finish this history/genealogy, then no one will do it.
From the photo it looks like painstaking work.
Is that a kneeler you're sitting on?
No, no sighting of falling stars in the Jerusalem Hills yet. But it is supposed to last until August 25.
try walking first thing in the morning then it's done. Although I spend a lot of time on the computer-I try to take a short break every so often to stretch my back, etc.
ReplyDeleteGood to know that your sugar level is fine .Walking is a very good exercise ,we all know that.I hope you take some time off and start a walk regime .Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThree months is plenty of time to get things back in order. Have you got a pedometer? They're great motivators.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Walking is great but better if combined with some stretching exercises. Move, move, move is what I hear from all my medical folks. Humans weren't designed to be sedentary. Remember to get up from your work often to stretch and give your body a break.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love doing what you're doing and it can be totally addictive. It's very hard to keep a good balance.
Dina: No it's not a kneeler. To be honest I don't know what a kneeler is. It's just a plain chair.
ReplyDeleteJabblog: My son bought me a pedometer a long time ago. I'll have to see where it is.
Ha! I returned the pedometer to my daughter as I found it troublesome to fiddle with.
ReplyDeleteDavid says HMSA does not cover Lipitor and it is quite expensive. Hope it is covered by your insurance.
I got up at 4:00 this morning to see the meteor shower. Like you, though, I saw nothing. I'll try again tonight.
ReplyDeleteNo meteors here, either, but the neighbor cat was glad we came outside. We hugged him and cuddled him and told him he was lovely.
ReplyDeleteKay, what great news from your Nurse Practioner! Walking is alot better than taking a needle every day! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could take a statin..but the side effects are severe in my case....
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why you have these problems when you are so slender and healthy looking. Strange.
ReplyDeleteLin in right about walking first thing, unless you are like me and would rather do it later in the day, like in the evening. You could also split it and so some before breakfast and another after dinner walk. It's important to get into a routine about exercising and then make sure you do it at least five times a week for at least 30 minutes. It's also good thinking time.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on finding what works for you.
Yeah me too! It´s so hard to just DO it. I hope you can though!
ReplyDeleteI didn't now that sugar and carbs aggravate triglycerides, I should tell my sister, I think she has a triglyceride problem. Kay, any chance you can find exercise you actually enjoy doing? That might be the trick. Maybe group exercise?
ReplyDeleteWell, I need to get out there too. When I was on holiday I was amazed at how far I COULD walk! So many different sights to see, it didn't seem like exercise. We ate out a LOT but I was happy that I had not put on as much as an ounce when I got home, and I know I have the walking to thank for that. It's hard to settle back into sights I have seen a thousand times before but it's a necessary thing. You're an inspiration on the genealogy Kay, I need to start investigating my own family. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your sugar levels are stable. That walking will make all the difference on all problem areas. My jogging/walking has really made a difference. Now that school has started, I'm having trouble getting it done. I can't get up that early, and it's too hot after school. I don't want to stop though. I'm doing too well.
ReplyDeleteGreat news that your sugar levels are stable! It must be a wonderful job to find out who your ancestors are. Are there registers in Japan where the population can be traced back? I wish you good luck!
ReplyDeletedidn't get to watch the meteor showers.
ReplyDeleteI've found that sitting for long periods is bad unless you adjust the seat the right height. That's a two-fold process. If you adjust the seat for the height of the desk, your feet dangles off the floor. So might have to saw off a few inches of the legs of the desk, if that makes any sense.
Kneeler is probably not the real name for the chair.
ReplyDeleteIt is supposed to be really good for you. Your weight is distributed between knees and butt.
See the photo of my chair at

Thanks, Dina. I'll keep a look-out for a reasonably priced one.
