I had to smile when I saw Bill Clinton's Bucket List. Here's what he said according to reporter, David Jackson:
"What I'd really like to do, if I could have my wishes, I would like to live to see my own grandchildren," Clinton said today while delivering the keynote address at the 18th International AIDS Conference in Vienna.
"And I'd like to live to know that all the grandchildren of the world will have the chance in the not too distant future to live their own dreams and not die before their time."
Clinton is getting closer to his own grandkids; daughter Chelsea is scheduled to be married later this month.
That's the "A list," added Clinton, who turns 64 next month. There's also a "B list" of stuff that "would be fun to do but doesn't amount to a hill of beans whether I get to do it or not."
That list is topped, so to speak, by Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
"I'd like to climb Kilimanjaro before the snows melt," Clinton said. "I'd like to run a marathon before I give out. There's lots of things I'd like to do but it doesn't really matter whether I do them."
Art is laughing because he's got three of the four done. Granted there's a plural to the grandkids and that hasn't happened yet, but at least we've got our KC, and we can only keep hoping for the children of the world to have better lives and work toward it.
So what's on my Bucket List? This link explains what a Bucket List is. (Basically, stuff you want to accomplish before you kick the bucket.)
I do have the Family Genealogy project that I am working on.
Ummmmmmmmmm.......
How pitiful! I can't think of a thing. Art keeps dragging us off to see different places so traveling isn't a Bucket List thing. Whatever we want to see he'll eventually get us there. Right now he's planning for Yellowstone, Glacier and back to Japan. We'd like to see Ireland, China and the rest of the Far East.
Hmmmmm... so what else do I want to do?
Oh, for goodness sake! I don't know, and I've been sitting here thinking and thinking. I give up. Do you have a Bucket List? What's at the top of yours?
Imagine! My husband has actually done the #1 thing on Pres. Clinton's wish list. He climbed Kilimanjaro in 1978.
ReplyDeleteMe, I'm thinking. Our Nation Caribbean cruise coming up the fall will be a big wish fulfillment thing for me.
I do want to see Australia. And maybe South Africa or Rhodesia.
I've never heard of a Bucket List before, but I get the idea - it's a 'things I want to do before I die' list. Well, there's not much on mine, I tend to take life as it comes, but there are two things that have been on for my whole life, and I don't seem to be able to get any closer to either of them. One is to be able to juggle - I've tried and tried but can't get the hang of it. The other is to be able to make that piercing whistle you get when you whistle with your fingers in your mouth. Not particularly laudable wishes I know, but that's all I can think of!
ReplyDeleteI think you must be a very contented person, Kay - and contentment is a very desirable state to achieve :-)
ReplyDeletefinishing your family history project is a great goal. I want to see all my sons together and not at my funeral. lol! They are all coming to utah this weekend for my ex spouse's family reunion so I'm going too. I'd like to publish a few more books and do more traveling but unfortunately my hubby's not too interested as he doesn't like to fly!
ReplyDeleteSeeing his own grandchild is a very big thing for him because he knows with his heart disease that's a very real chance that he might not live to see them, even if it's within the next 5 years.
ReplyDeleteI doubt he's physically up to climbing Kilimanjaro. Nice dream but I don't see it happening for him.
As for me, I don't think I have a bucket list. It used to be traveling but those days are gone. Perhaps another trip to Washington, DC, and another fall trip to New England to see the leaves, and oh yes, another trip to Boston. Oh, I forgot, Colonial Williamsburg, another trip there would be nice.
I have come to the part of my life that most of my bucket list is almost complete. I know one thing I wish for all mankind to have peace and harmony in their lifes and if we could stamp out hunger. Thank you for coming by.
ReplyDeleteI've been fortunate enough to do most of the things on my bucket list before I even knew there was such a thing as a bucket list! I would enjoy going back to Greece and France, but other than that I just look forward to enjoying each day. Hope your week is going well, Kay! Enjoy!

Been there, done that. I have done quite a bit with my life already -- read my 3 memoirs. LOL.
ReplyDeleteRight now, David and I are more concerned with SURVIVAL -- financial and health. I hope we can survive the rest of the year and see no more disasters in our lives.
Hmmm...I think more traveling with my husband is what I would write at the top of my list, but first of all that my children have comfortable, happy lives...
ReplyDeleteOh, Kay. Let's not muddy the water...a bucket list?! I can't get it straight what I'm (definitely) going to do from one day to the next. I can say though, that I am having fun being a new grandma.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Kay.
Is a bucket list a list of things that can be achieved or just something you wish you could do someday? Because from where I sit now, those are two big differences. I would love to travel more, but my hubby not, so that´s a big obstacle to realizing what´s on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteBeing content with my life, is another thing I strive for.
Well, if you want to see Ireland, there's a house you can stay in for free, if you go before it's sold (and who knows, with my luck it'll take forever!)
ReplyDeleteI think that anyone who doesn't have a bucket list must be a very blessed and lucky person who's wise enough to realize it! Mine is very very short -- and does NOT include climbing mountains! LOL
I would like to see my son settled, but that depends on what's on his bucket list, not mine. We've done the "must see" travels, so now we do what strikes our fancy or follow whatever opportunity presents itself. My goal is to see as much and do as much as I can for as long as I can before this body of mine fails me. And that includes small things, like seeing a new flower in bloom or talking, taking a walk on the beach or talking with my grandchild, in person.
ReplyDeleteA lovely idea. The problem is that if I worked out a bucket list, I would have to see everything on the list ticked off - being a dogged sort of person, and most of my wishlist would be physically and/or financially out of reach! One wish that nags at me is to see my collection of poems published.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like you are living a bucket list right now.
ReplyDeleteI think I kicked my bucket list when I got really sick with my MS..but since then I have been provided with opportunities that I hadn't even considered......
