A Solution for Wrinkly Knees?

I almost posted a photo of my sagging knees but spared you all. I noticed this happening a few years ago. There were wrinkles sagging over my knee caps. Why doesn't Art have them? He's older than I am.

This is Hawaii. I wear shorts in spring, summer and fall. There's maybe a couple of weeks in winter that I wear long pants. However, I realized that shorts expose my sagging knees for everybody to see.

Tif mentioned capris and bermuda pants to me a while ago but since I'm never really aware of fashion, I didn't take notice. I didn't think capris would keep me cool enough in summer. Tif likes them a lot even though she doesn't have any wrinkled knees to worry about.

During our trip to Illinois, Tif gave me a pair of hers and I'm sold! They're really quite comfortable, cool and keep my knees under wraps.

Now I'm looking around and noticing a lot of women are wearing capris and bermudas. What do you know? Do they have wrinkled knees, too? Now I just have to find some that have waists high enough that they don't fall off my butt.

That's the other thing. What happened to my butt....

Never mind.

  1. You're lucky you look good in pants, period, whether shorts, bermudas, or capris. Your knees and legs are fine, Kay. Don't worry about it.

  2. I love capris! They came into my life just in the nick of time, if you know what I mean.

  3. You look wonderful in all your photos so don't worry. I've reached the stage of long-sleeved, high-necked kaftans but as I haven't got any I just don't go out . . . ;-)

  5. When it comes to wearing shorts....., I don't. Wrinkly knees are the least of my problems. I do have a couple of pairs of capris, especially for beach wear.

  6. I wear capris year round too. They are THE style for woman over 50 or at least near 50. :) Even if you don´t have wrinkled knees, I think shorts are for younger woman. But that´s just my opinion.

  7. I would wear shorts if I looked like you. I have varicose veins so I wear long pants all year round. So count your blessings and show off those wrinkly knees. With age we shouldn't be trying to impress anyone or compete with younger women...lol!

  8. Kay, you're so funny with your true confessions. hehe

I've got bermudas on now in the hot house, but I wouldn't dare go out in them. Not that I care how I look. But people in and around the Holy City have a heightened sense of modesty and I don't want to shock them.

  9. Love your humor and your wonderful "true confessions"! At my age I try to keep everything as well covered as possible and I try to keep a positive attitude by avoiding mirrors as much as possible. Fortunately, it's cool enough most of the time in Seattle that I wouldn't be wanting to wear shorts anyway. But I've never seen a photo of you that I didn't love and you always look wonderful and with your smile you can easily get away with "those" knees! Have a great weekend, Kay!

  11. News headline: "Retired School Teacher Gets Knee Lift". ROTFL

Kay, with your beautiful smile nobody is looking at your knees anyway!

  12. I think capris are a wonderful idea for every one. I wear them a few days during the summer. Mostly I wear long pants the year round because it's cool enough in the Pacific Northwest to do that.

I despise the pants that the waist line only comes to your hip bones. Give me regular waist lines please.

  13. Kay, I wear capris all the time here in NC. They are really cool and yes they do cover the wrinkly knees!

  14. You are so funny! And that's a wonderful thing!! 'Cause laughter is good for the soul. I wear capris or pants. I wear shorts in my house...not generally in public!

  15. That is so funny. I have just now started wearing shorts in public again (since I've been running and have lost some lbs). Don't feel bad about your knees. You've earned them, I'm sure. Just think of all the time you spent on your feet while teaching.

  16. LOL! You've sold me on capris now. Too bad you can't give the knee-wrinkles to Art -- I can't understand why my husband has to constantly trim his long and indestructible fingernails, while I can't grow mine a quarter-inch! Grrr....

  18. I've never had knees worth showing so the 'long shorts' thing has been a godsend for me. At least my ankles get a bit cooler in the hot weather.

  19. I love capris! And my personal fashion mantra is not wearing shorts after 50. :<)
