I must tell you that I was dubious that this would work. However, I gave it the good ol' college try. Wrapping a towel soaked in ginger juice around my neck the night before gave me a red neck all day. However, the redness is now gone. I applied some aloe juice to it but perhaps the redness would have gone away on its own. Still, it DID work. I slept through the night with only a couple of coughs.
Last night I rubbed the bottom of my soles with VapoRub and wore socks so it wouldn't get all over everything. It worked just as well as the ginger. So do the remedies work or was I already on the road to recovery anyway?
Hard to tell... My head is still a little woozy. However, I do feel my energy rising. My cough has really subsided. It could be I'm just trying to avoid my mother's next home remedy... ginger and daikon (radish)juice.
And I am going to keep a jar of VapoRub in my medicine cabinet.
You've give it the old college try. Who could ask for more?
ReplyDeleteLike they say-common cold cures in a week if you try remedies and seven days in case you don't.
ReplyDeleteRise in energy level is a great sign...get well soon !
Amazing what works sometimes!! So glad you're feeling better! Enjoy your day!

I have put Vicks on my mom's feet many, many times. I believe it helps. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used that for everything and it used to be made here in Buffalo
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, my mom would rub vicks on my chest and make me wear a flannel nightgown. Although it was comforting, I hated the greasiness.
ReplyDeleteDon't know about vicks on my feet, though. Glad it helped you!
However, I prefer to take a pill! LOL.
not convinced with the vicks on the feet remedy but so happy you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could remember where I first heard of the VapoRub on the feet cure, but I definitely heard it somewhere and it seemed worth a try. I guess I haven't had a cold since hearing of it, though.
ReplyDeletemust be the British version of health care reform. They're way ahead of the US.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you for the hint! I have sometimes those coughing fits at night, then I drink something or take some coughing medicine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit. I don't know if the geese adopted any goslings. Some birds do so.
You have to try or you'll never know. I tried the Vicks on the feet once and it did nothing for me. I'm glad it worked for you. Feel better!
ReplyDeleteKay I have to say I just believe a virus has to run its course, but advil cold n sinus sometimes helps me although it seems to keep me awake.
ReplyDeleteAccording to an article Patty read, the Vicks rubbed on your feet works best if rubbed on your chest. We always rubbed in on our chests when I was growing up.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to give that vapor rub a try. Thanks for being our test subject and a good sport!
ReplyDeleteFeel better Kay!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think I will put Sarah's vapor rub on my list next time I go to the store, just in case. Glad to know you continue to feel better every day Kay. Good health to you from now on :)
ReplyDeleteAn English Girl Rambles.
I'm with kavita on this one.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be avoiding the radish juice too LOL. I'm glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteKay I am so glad it gave you some relief, it always works for me, even in the first days of a cold/cough. BTW the socks are to generate heat so the vaporub is absorbed, although I guess they also protect the sheets.
ReplyDeleteI always put the Vicks on my chest too, as per tradition. But it seems to work better when the feet are involved too!
I've heard of this, good reminder should it be necessary. Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're finally on the mend. Just don't overdo it or you'll be flat on your back again.
