Presents in the Mail

We have begun the week on a fun note. We received two flat rate packages from Tif, Ed and KC. They wanted to thank us for our visit and what we helped them with when we were in Chicago.

Art was thrilled to see this Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Championship t-shirt! They also sent a TON of different kinds of nuts and a couple of bags of our favorite veggie chips.

I was excited to see two special glass mugs/steins. I have a collection of three mugs. I decided to start a collection that would be hard to find so it wouldn't grow too quickly. Whenever we're on a trip, I look for a larger clear glass stein. I looked for one in Chicago and in New Mexico and failed. Tif mailed two glass steins with KC's picture on it. I couldn't believe it!

It sure is a nice start to the week!

LATER: Gigi asked where Tif got the mug. I looked at the package and it says Kodak Gallery. She got it on-line. However, I do have to warn you that the inside of the stein has a matte finish. I'm hesitant to put ice tea or mocha in it because I think it will stain. I'll just use it for clear liquids.

  2. What great gifts! Love your steins, Kay. Wonder where one gets one's photo onto a stein. Is it expensive?

  4. Gigi: I don't know how expensive it is. I checked the package styrofoam and it says she got it from Kodak Gallery. I'm sure you can check on-line for it. A few years ago, Tif also made a smaller mug for Art with KC's baby pictures on it.

  5. I love the Marvin the Martian stein! (I do understand why you prefer the KC ons, though. ;)

  6. Quilly and Gigi: The only problem with the Kodak Gallery steins is that it has a matte finish on the INSIDE so I'm thinking that if you put coffee mocha or ice tea in it, it could stain and turn the stein brownish... I'm thinking. I haven't done it but that's what I'm suspecting.

  9. Kay, I guess you can't put the steins in the dishwasher without KC's pic being eroded eventually. How did you clean Art's mug?

  10. Gigi: We would handwash it very carefully. We haven't had to because Art prefers to just look at it.

  11. Isn't it exciting to get a parcel in the post. I got some threads today, and that was pretty exciting too. I love the stein with the picture of KC on it; I have a china mug with a picture of my younger son on it, which he got done for a birthday present for me when he was about ten. I've never used it to drink from though, far too precious.

  12. What fun to receive packages such as you did in the mail! Art must be delighted with his t-shirt and how special your stein collection is with the addition of two with KC's photo on them! Priceless.

  13. Kay;

Chicago finally got a winning team.
Go Blackhawks! Dianne Paxson told me that the team was all over town taking their shits off and giving them away.
Nice to have your week start out on a happy note!

  17. Hi Kay! What a good idea to collect something that is hard to find. I love that! Sometimes we get so excited to start a new collection and before long, we are inundated. Love the steins!

  18. HAAHAHAHAHA, you guys actually THINK about what you put into cups???! Oh, man, I feel sooo stoopid. I just grab whatever is on the rack and put water, juice, highly nonpolar solvents, and mildy radioactive stuff into them without thinking.

  19. I got a box too -- and BOY was it a hit at home, thank you!!

The baby was supercranky after a long day and I was out of coffee - both problems instantly solved, and smiles all around: thanks for turning the whole day around! and big hugs and thanks to Tif too, and of course, most of all, to KC. (We were dry ALL DAY here, quite a triumph - and wearing pink bracelets too!)

  20. That first photo is so cute.

KC steins are the best. Naomi gave me a mug with their picture on it and I treasure it.
