I know it looks like we're breakfast nuts but we've somehow gotten ourselves to the point that we can't seem to eat one kind of cereal. We like having a combination.
Our kids were rather aghast at our breakfast ritual. We alternate oatmeal on one day and a mixture of cereals on another day. We also add raisins or cranberries and bananas to our cereal.
It all started innocently enough with us just mixing two kinds of cereal and then we kept on adding to it. Sounds like my chicken soup. I just don't know where to stop!
If this ritual makes you happy (and healthy) good for you! I have never thought about mixing and matching my breakfast food. I should try to mix up what seems to be half-empty boxes loitering in the cupboard.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me (but watch that pre-diabetes).
ReplyDeleteSince we store our cereal in the fridge, your boxes would not fit in. Sounds delish, though, especially adding banana, cranberries, and raisins!
ReplyDeleteKay, I have to concur with Janie!
ReplyDeletehaha, this is so funny. My hubby is mixing two cereals. I guess I know what to expect now.... :)
ReplyDeleteWhatever makes you happy! We have one kind of cereal, and Tom eats it every morning. I have a breakfast shake with skim milk, SlimFast powder, half a bananna, tofu, and in season, blueberries. It all goes in the blender and comes out yummy.
ReplyDeleteI have never thought of mixing cereal myself. Jim has done it for years, adding them all to a big tuperware cereal container.
ReplyDeleteHe liked it that way. He would end up with several boxes of open cereal and he just added them together in order to get rid of some of the boxes.
Hey, whatever works, tastes good and fills you up! That's all that matters! Sounds pretty tasty to me!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Kay!
Sylvia
If it wasn't so expensive here in Israel I would eat cereal for breakfast and dinner.
ReplyDeleteI like your choices for breakfast. I must say though that I seldom eat just cereal now as I have low blood sugar and need protein. So it is often bacon and eggs.
ReplyDeleteI mix cereal all the time and put it in a cereal tupperware container just like Peggy's husband. And add fruit, of course. After being used to this,m it's hard to go back one ingredient!
ReplyDeletewell being diabetic, I alernate cereal one day with eggs the next. I need protein but sound mixing them sounds interesting and something my hubby would lie.
ReplyDeleteWe're big believes in breakfast as being the most important meal of the day. That photo of all your cereals is great and it's a good idea to mix them. I grew up with porridge (oatmeal) and still love it. There are about four varieties of cereal in our pantry right now, but this morning we had English sausages and a Cheese Biscuit. I made a small batch of biscuits a couple of days ago, and a friend picked the sausages up from the place I used to work. It was a nice treat as we don't eat sausages normally.
ReplyDeleteI love oatmeal with blueberries in the morning. I usually have a yogurt midmorning because cereal just does not hold me until lunch. I've never mixed, but that is a good idea. I store my cereals in the fridge also, so there's not a lot of room for a multitude of boxes. The multigrain Cheerio's are really good too!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun actually! We couldn't afford to do that here, with some cereals costing the equivalent of $6 or more in US money. The kids loved eating cereal over the summer, and now they're back to plain oatmeal or scrambled eggs, oh yay.
ReplyDeleteJust looking at all your boxes makes me wish....
;-)
Ooooo... that sounds interesting. We found some new cereal that we love! It's Special K. I like the Cinnamon Pecan and DH likes the Blueberry. He recently bought a "Fruit and Yogurt" one. I don't know why. Neither of us like Yogurt! Go figure! LOL
ReplyDeleteCheryl: It does sound a little crazy that we do this, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteJanie: You are so right about the carb value.
Gigi: We store our flour and such in the fridge but we leave our cereal out. Wouldn't it be something if we tried to store All our boxes?
Christine: Yup, the dried fruits really add pizazz to the cereal... but again... that pre-diabetic thing.... sigh.
Betty: It always starts with two...
Linda: Your breakfast shake sounds quite interesting.
Peggy: We and Jim must think alike. :-)
Sylvia: I agree! Thanks, Sylvia. You, too.
Dina: We get our cereal at the base commissary so it's a lot cheaper, thank goodness.
Abraham: If I was allowed bacon, I'd have it every morning.
Mare: Yae, Mare! I told you we think alike.
Lin: Being pre-diabetic really has its challenges.
Denise: The most wonderful thing that our kids remember of our first trip abroad to England was the English breakfast. They were in heaven!
Joyce: Geee, quite a few of you store your cereal in the fridge. Hmmm... what don't I know?
Susan: Thank goodness we can buy our cereal at the base commissary since Art used to be an officer. It would get really expensive otherwise.
Dez: That sounds wonderful, too.
I thought I was the only one who mixed dry cereals...I am so happy that I am not alone in this Kay... Michelle
ReplyDeleteMichelle: You are definitely not alone, Michelle. You should see what we do with our oatmeal.
