The Stop Sign Tree and My New Shoes

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago near my aunt's house of a Koa tree growing right up the Stop Sign. The City and County of Honolulu could pull the tree out at the base but instead they've let the tree grow and come back to trim it every so often. It's rather surprising to see a tree growing up the sign support and over the sign itself whenever we get to this stop. It's even funnier when the branches get bigger.

I wanted to share my new shoes and sandals that Art bought me. The Easy Spirit is nice to wear in the house and provides a good amount of support. I bought a pair like this for my mom before our trip to Japan and Canada and she loved it.

I'd seen several of my friends wearing the Clarks sandals when they had foot problems so I knew just what style to buy. As I was holding the sandals at the shoe department someone came over to me and said, "They're really comfortable and great for traveling. See mine? I wear it all the time. My husband tells me I should buy another one. Buy it!"

So I did and she was right.

P.S. Neither one of the loveseats we saw turned out to be what we wanted. One was actually too big and the other was too worn out. I guess I'm really hooked on Craigslist because it's like a gambling addiction. Sometimes you win and many times, you can lose.

  1. Kay: Thanks for the tips on foot wear. Teva elixirs are good too.
I love the stop sign tree. Ah, Honolulu ;-)

  2. I recently bought a pair of New Balance walking shoes for my trek to Mauna Kea. I have to wear woolen socks that reach my knees, too, as it is frigid there. Uyeda Shoe Store on University Ave carried both in my large size.

  3. Nice, comfy looking shoes and sandals. I have heard that Clark's are great shoes. I am addicted to Crocs myself. And thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice comments, I appreciate it.

  7. While I can tell that neither of those pairs of shoes would work for me and my multiple foot problems, I am very glad that they work for you. There isn't much worse than feet that hurt.

  9. That stop sign is marvellous: it looks like hair LOL.

Meanwhile, I've been looking all over for just those sort of sandals! Something comfortable but good for summer, something that will last long than a single season and not break on a trip to the beach leaving me stranded. (Would make a nice change...) So, when I get to America, will look for Clarks. Thanks! And I hope they treat your feet well and keep your mending bones safe.

    Your shoes look really comfortable.

  11. You've got to admire a tree like that for its sheer grit and determination. I'm glad it's allowed to continue just where it is. Clarks are excellent shoes, designed for actual human feet, unlike so many other shoes.

  12. comfy shoes, have you heard of birkenstock and mephisto lines? They are expensive, but if you really need them, you can get a doctor's prescription and claim them off your insurance plan.

  15. I saw my Berkenstocks in the closet and took them out. By golly! They are really comfortable, too! I'd totally forgotten about them.

Art uses New Balance shoes because they're one of the few companies that make a EEEE. Yup, he's got flippers for feet but they're strong. He's never broken his foot like me.

  17. I have those sandals too. I need shoes or sandals that stay on my feet or I trip and things get ugly...

  18. Beautiful skies behind your kewl stop sign tree photo. Nifty shoe choices. I loved Easy Spirit and Clark shoes while I was teaching. These days I prefer Keen sandals and Think! shoes ;--)
