We had a very delicious, wonderful surprise today. My brother, sister-in-law and nephew, Cody sent us this gorgeous fruit bouquet. It came just before lunch so we really made a meal of it. My mother and I had no qualms about scarfing up the chocolate covered strawberries in one sitting. Shame on us but it was worth all the calories.
Thank you, Dennis, Nancy and Cody!
We gave Mom the azaleas to remind her of our trip to the Pacific Northwest. She's still in awe of all the incredible flowers and gardens we saw everywhere. Tomorrow my brother's family will be coming to celebrate the day with us. Then we'll take my mom for an After Mother's Day meal out on Monday.
I almost let Mother's Day get by without a to-do but my brother and sister-in-law awakened me to realize that we needed to spend some time to appreciate and recognize how lucky we are to have each other.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there! Have a glorious day together!
Kay, you are lucky to have a mom like yours and she is lucky to have you so close.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mothers Day to you three generations of mothers.
I've never seen a fruit bouquet. It's beautiful.
Happy Mother's Day to you Kay! Of course you won't sit and relax at all - that just wouldn't be you. You are probably one of the most active people I know - always going here and there, doing this or that, researching things, etc., etc. You are amazing! Hope you have a wonderful day with all that you do!!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a fruit bouguet, it must have smelt amazing too. What a pretty azalea, we have a couple that are just about to flower so we will bring them inside to enjoy them. Mother's Day in the UK was some weeks ago now, and was the first time ever that I didn't see either of my sons, so that was weird.
ReplyDeleteWow! A fruit and some azaleas. That's a great way to start a Mother's Day celebration...but, the best thing of all is that she's sitting next to you, smiling that wonderful smile that the two of you have in common. What I wouldn't give to be able to put my arm around my mom again...if only.
ReplyDeleteYou are a miracle of a lady. As is your mother. She keeps up a steady pace as she takes these trips with you and your hubby.
My sister bought a fruit bouquet for all of when we had our "sister's week" last summer. I did exactly what you did. I snarfed the chocolate covered strawberries. I hadn't intended to... but after eating the first one, I just didn't seem to be able to stop myself. Then I moved on to the pineapple... then the cantaloupe. I kept all of the picks so that I could make one someday. tee hee... like that's gonna happen.
I still miss my mom. I know you will have a great Mother's Day.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the post with the toilet paper dispenser.
I liked your bed too. It looks really sharp. That is the kind of bed I had when I was a little boy. Slept on a mattress made out of feathers called a "feather tick" mattress. The bottom of the bed had wires across anchored to little springs that hooked into the metal rails. There were no box springs.
That's what I call love. Family is the most important in every thing we do.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky that you can reach dear mummy.
Enjoy the family gatherings. Cheers!
Happy Mothers Day, Kay. Yes, you are so very fortunate to have your mother with you, and to have four generations of love to surround you.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's day, looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteBoth bouquets are sooo pretty. I have to throw a party in two weeks time (CRAP!!) and might try replicating your fruit bouquet for the lunch part of it...I suspect the results will be more hilarious than appetizing, but all the better because in my kitchen, the rule is the cook has to eat the mistakes. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to both of you, and Tif too!!
Oh boy does that ever look great! I just love it - lucky you!
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite holidays-great idea of a fruit bouquet that you can eat.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful photo of you and your Mom. And the flowers are gorgeous and what a nice reminder of your recent trip for your Mom. And the fruit bouquet looks luscious! Enjoy your family!
ReplyDeleteOh Kay, this is a fantastic Mother's Day photo of you both, and lovely gifts from your brother and his family. Your post below of the bed with the quilt was great to see, and your header with your little granddaughter absolutely adorable. Again, Happy Mother's Day Kay, to you, your Mom and your daughter.
ReplyDeleteand a very Happy Mother's Day to you and your Mom and your daughter...
