These Boots Were Made for Line Dancing?

My leather pumps with its little heels were feeling pretty tight for line dancing and the leather was actually cracking. How can that be? Could it be it's pleather? Anyway, it's not been the best and was starting to hurt my feet.

Our line dancing teacher brings boots to class that she finds at the Salvation Army and other thrift shops. I was really not wanting to buy a pair of second hand, used, sweated in shoes that somebody else gave up. The teacher even said she sold it to another of her students and that person returned it to her so she was going to sell it to anybody for $8.00. It was 2 sizes too big but what the heck, I decided to go ahead and buy it. I'll be wearing thick socks anyway and maybe I can get one of those shoe inserts...

I've looked for boots or flat shoes in Hawaii and I just can't find anything I like much less something less that $75.00. Also, we were told that you shouldn't have rubber outsoles because it will hurt your ankle as you try to do your steps. Well, they don't seem to make shoes these days without a rubber outsole.

Ah well... we'll see how this works. My son is also encouraging me to do yoga. I think that would be nice. Even better, I don't need shoes for that!

  1. I bought a Tai Chi DVD that I watched but did not participate in. It still lies on the counter. Lazy me!

I still want to join a line dance class. Too busy right now. Sounds like fun, though! Keep it up, Kay!

  2. I'm looking forward to getting back into Tai Chi classes in April. The winter has been so long and cold and while I shouldn't have, I used that an the asthma as an excuse for not doing the exercise that would be good for me. I don't have a weight problem, but just need to do it for good health, period! Hang in there, the line dancing is great exercise!

  4. I've done yoga for years, Kay, and love it. It keeps me limber. I do shoulder stands in my workout class and get strange looks for the non-yoga students!

  5. I would love to go to a yoga class, but can't afford it right at the moment. They say yoga is so good for you, I hope you try it! If you do, let us know how it was! Happy Dancing!!

  6. This post has me laughing, Kay.
So where are the photos of y'all linedancing?
Plether? I had to Google the word. It's fun to say.
When I decided to conquer the jungle that was my back yard, I thought about getting those black high rubber cowshed boots. But where?? As if by miracle, I saw a pair in the little flea market the next day. I looked and the woman said 30 shekels. I said No thanks, they are 2 sizes too big. She said, Come back! Take, take. Only ten shekels.
    That's only about $2.50. I took.
You can find someone putting down fluffy carpet and cut out two insoles for your boots.

  7. Kay;

The boots do look a little big but socks will help a lot. I do yoga at home with Kevin sometimes. I can't do every move but I can do many of them! it's fun and relaxing.

  8. What a bargain! You will sure look "snazzy" doing your dancing. I should check out yoga, it probably would be good for my decrepit back :)

  9. I used to go dancing; it was great exercise. You're reminding me about the shoe issue however! It's so important to have comfortable strong shoes with the right sole, oh boy.

Yoga might be fun. I'd take it if there was a class nearby. My physical therapist gave me an exercise ball and exercise for it; I feel ludicrous on it.

I wonder if he'd let me try line dancing instead? lol

  12. Hi Kay! Not only will it hurt your ankles, but also your knees. Rubber soles on certain floors are not good for dancing.

I started yoga this year. I love it. It's good for the mind and body. Our teacher also has a class on the beach when it gets warmer. I can't wait to try that. I think you would enjoy it. I tried yoga dance too, but was not too impressed with that. Lisa
