Rust on Martha Stewart

Isn't this the pits? We bought this Martha Stewart STAINLESS STEEL dish rack just over a year ago from Macy's and used it on our second small sink. It's hardly ever used and LOOK at the rust! Arrrghhhh!

This was not a cheap dish rack!
I thought I'd give you all a head's up on Martha Stewart products. I looked on-line and I guess quite a number of people are upset about many of her products.

I guess I'll be thinking twice now before I buy her houseware stuff. Sheesh!

It may not look as nice but we went to the drug store and picked up a plastic dish rack today. Ah well...

  1. that's the pitts, plastic doesn't rust...I lost my trust in Martha Stewart about the time she went to jail...but she's made a comeback for better or worse.

  2. Tsk tsk, Martha's name tarnished again.
I like the folding wooden dish racks, although my own is plastic. Here the hard water builds up a white crust on the plastic tray beneath it.
    How is Hawaiian water?

  3. I have no use for Martha or her products! Generally too expensive only to turn out to be disappointing so I know just how you feel! The plastic will work far better. That is definitely the pits!!

  4. I've got news for you. Plastic gets moldy and mildewy. I find I have to replace my plastic or rubber dishrack every year. So always buy cheap and change it yearly.

  5. Yes, it is the pits and it's pitted with rust to boot. You're back home in the heat??

  6. I've also found a couple of Martha's products to be shoddy as well.

I've never been a Martha fan, though.

Wishing you well with your dish rack. I only lived in Hawaii a year, but the moisture in the air wreaked havoc with a number of items. As well as keeping my naturally curly hair in a constant state of frizz. I found all of it worth living with just to be in Paradise. I love your part of the world!!!

  7. Never did like Martha Stewart or her products. Way too expensive and I, too, read about the negative things about her products online.
Sure hope that drugstore was Walmart! LOL
PS...Let me know next time you need stuff ok?

  8. It just goes to show that the big "names" are not necessarily the best doesn't it? I use plastic with never a problem, it may not be as glamorous as Martha's but it holds up and costs alot less! Happy Valentine's Day to you.

  9. Disappointing isn't it? That beautiful Hawaiian humidity makes a lot of difference. Good luck with the plastic one.

I, like some of your other commenters, never liked Martha. I always thought that her staff did the work while she just pretended to be so creative and clever.

  10. As a long time Martha Stewart fan, I have to say I am disappointed in what she is doing lately. We used to love her show and record it to watch in the evening. We would have a Friday night Martha fest. It was Mr. Rogers for adults, no swearing, no fighting, just beautiful things. Sure she has a big staff, but she also knows how to do all of it herself.
But after her stint in prison, which seems harsh now compared to what our past administration is getting away with, her show became too "nice", too chatty, just boring. And much of it is an infomercial for her growing line of products.
And the Martha Stewart kitchen towels I bought to use for embroidery recently shed badly when I prewashed them and I spent an hour getting them cleaned up so I could work with them. So - no more Martha products for me.

I got a Martha Stewart shower liner at K-mart, cost more then the regular k-mart brand .I ended up taking it back and getting a better one from Traget!Even cost less!

  13. Hmmm, stainless means it doesn't stain or rust right? This is bad!!

  14. Peggy that is horrible. She certainly knows how to make money thats for sure but I think there are a lot better products out there. And you cant go wrong with plastic.

  15. That certainly must have been disappointing for you. I have always used plastic, or a dishwasher.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love having visitors and comments!

  16. I find Martha to be way too perfect for me. I did buy her curtains because I really liked the pattern. I think her brush with the law could have also been enforced to others, too. Those top execs get away with a lot.

  17. That's frustrating ... and I'd be tempted to complain to the company on principle. That said ... I've learned that living close to the ocean exacts consequences: what doesn't rust, gets mold and/or rots away faster than it would inland.
    Hugs and blessings,
