Sky Watch Friday: Kualoa Beach Park

This photo was taken in August of last year when Tiffany and KC were visiting. We took a trip to Kualoa Beach Park and watched the power of the waves. KC was terrified of the sand. Every time we put her down to walk on the sand, she screamed. Being a Chicago city baby, she was only used to the firm support of a concrete sidewalk.

For even more fabulous skies around the world please join us at Sky Watch Friday.

  1. What a lovely photo---and such a cute story! I wouldn't have thought of it, but I suppose it must feel that the ground's falling out from under her.

Meanwhile, I wish we had such blue skies: Kualoa Beach Park looks beautiful.

  15. Don't worry. KC will get over her fear of the sand.
The warmth of the blue sky and the beach are comforting right now.

  16. Has KC ever felt grass underfoot or mud oozing thru her toes? Ah, the joy of attending school barefoot in Manoa...

  21. What a pretty beach, even though you can't swim there. Is that sign always there, or just at certain times?

  22. Some of you asked about the 'No Swimming' sign. Signs to warn against swimming at the beach are put up for lots of reasons:
The waves are too rough or too high.
    There's an undertow.
    Sharks!
Jellyfish! (Yuck! My daughter got stung by a nasty one once.)
Contaminated water from sewer run off.
The signs come down when the danger has passed.

Gigi asked about KC and grass. Well... she's sort of OK with grass. I had to really work with her on that when she was in Hawaii. I don't quite know how comfortable she is now. It'll be better when they move into the suburbs someday.

  23. Ooops! Forgot to answer EG Tour Guide's question about Hawaii being warm.
Oh yes! It's warm. Here where we live it's around 75 degrees during the day. I usually wear t-shirts and shorts. This is my favorite time of year. The summers are waaaay too hot for me. It gets into the high 80's.

  30. When my daughter was that age, she didn't like wet grass. Kids!

Your picture has one of the many fabulous skies of SkyWatch.

It's so fun checking out blogs. You and your husband look terrific. We travel a lot too, and I admit sometimes I feel fearful before we leave, but once we arrive I totally enjoying being immersed in a brand new culture.

  31. Hawaiian beaches are so lovely and the skies are beautiful too. Walking on sand can be a challenge for toddlers until they've had some experience.

My skies are clear and sunny at Happily Retired Gal and Sacred Ruminations Friday. TODAY the Santa Ana WINDS are gusting mightily!
