Musings Visits Meggie's Musings

There was a big snowstorm that was sweeping past the Midwest that threatened to delay our trip to visit Peggy of Meggie's Musings. Mother Nature was kind and coaxed the storm a bit southward so that we could do the 2.5 hour drive to visit Peggy and her son, Kevin. We were so sorry to miss her husband, Jim but we have a full schedule this weekend. In fact, we're pretty much scheduled until we leave on February 8th.

Tiffany loved introducing KC to "Aunt" Peggy and Kevin. She was thrilled to see Peggy looking as beautiful as the last time she saw her 6 years ago (at her wedding) and Kevin looking so handsome and grown up. Kevin and Tiffany were best buddies when they were little. They reminisced about the time they both ate berries from the Bitter Nightshade and had to drink Syrup of Ipecac.

Although KC is normally very reserved around people who she does not have frequent contact with, she warmed up to Kevin right away.

I have delivered all your hugs to Peggy and we had fun looking at our blogs and talking about all the nice friends we have on-line.

  7. I actually gave her an individual hug for each person who asked me to. She was delighted to receive all your affection and well wishes. She looked fabulous as always and just as she's a fantastic driver of a car, she was able to drive her scooter around the house with precision within a half inch of any furniture. She's an amazing woman!

  9. I'm glad mother nature got the weather to cooperate so you could have your visit. Everybody looks so happy, that's nice.

KC seems very occupied with her project there. I'll bet she has some interesting conversation to go with it.

  14. Jill and Julie: Thank you so much! We had a great time together.

Linda: You're right about the intergenerational thing. It was great for all of us to be together and having Kevin playing with KC.

Kay: Thank you for taking that "hit" for us. We drove home safely and easily.

Sarah: Peg said she really enjoys your blog, too.

Cloudia: Aloha to you, too. We'll be home soon enough.

dellgirl: KC was very occupied with the toy that Peggy gave her and with Kevin.

Sherri: I do cherish my old friends and definitely my new. Thank you for the award. You are too kind!

Mare: Nope, KC was rather cautious about her new surroundings. I'll bet she would have loved it though. Maybe next year.

Lin: I'll be happy to return to Hawaii but I do HATE leaving Tif and her family! Ah well... they'll be visiting us this summer and then there's that webcam.

  15. Nice photo of happy friends and family. How great that you got to visit with Peggy and Kevin with your daughter and KC. And oh my, what an awful experience that must have been when Tiffany and Kevin ate the berries! It must be nice to see your children together after all these years. Enjoy the rest of your trip, I am enjoying following along.

  16. Cheryl and Ashton: It was frightening to be sure because although Kevin vomited out what he had eaten right away, it took Tif an hour or two longer to get rid of her stomach contents. After that, I kept a vigilant eye for any Nightshade plant growing around the area. Actually, they ate it because a neighbor told them they were currants and that they should eat it. SHEESH! Boy! Was I ticked off. He didn't know better.

  17. How wonderful! You and Peggy are beautiful women. Truly gorgeous. Neither of you look like you have grown up children. It was great you got to visit after not seeing each other for six years too! Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

By the way you can find the pavlova recipe here. I put loads more different fruit on it than this picture would suggest though!

  18. I was just thinking the very thing the previous reader said about how young you and your friend look. Who would believe you're a grandma?

Time with old friends is the best. Glad you got to have some... too bad it couldn't have been in sunny weather... but then, when the dispositions are sunny, the weasther is easier to deal with.

Why do you suppose we call her "Mother Nature"? It doesn't seem right, somehow. I mean mother's are nurturing and comforting... always there to kiss it better. Mother Nature is so unpredictable and cantankerous at times. Fortunately she was in a good mood for your visit.

  19. What a wonderful post to come back online to! I love the photos of all of you and your beautiful smiles; it seems that the weather moved aside just for you so you'd have the time together for a while.

I'm traveling too, now, just landed yesterday in a blizzard that canceled my connecting flight. Reading your posts is making me feel better already!

  20. Lilly: Aw gee! Peggy's the pretty one. Thank you for the compliments from both of us and THANK YOU for the Pavlova recipe. Yippee!

Caryn: You are so nice! Thank you very much! I may look younger than I am because I always tell people to back away from close-ups. Farther away the better. :-)
And so true about Mother Nature, too!

Susan: I sorry your connecting flight got cancelled. Bummers! We're worried about something like that happening to us for our return flight. Very possible with the weather the way it is now. Take care, now, and stay warm.
