Rainy Saturday

It's another rainy Saturday. The whole island seems to be blanketed by heavy rain clouds and we're really getting pelted by waves of heavy downpour.

The kids, however, are taking it in stride running around outside and enjoying getting wet. I took this photo from our 2nd floor.

It was a good day to stay inside and work on putting up our roller shades.

This is what it looks like close up. We're pretty pleased with it. I think the Home Depot salesperson still didn't get it quite right. She insisted we needed to get the roller to roll on the inside but we've noticed that it brings the shade too close to the glass and handles. However, at this point, we give up. We'll just be content with this and HOPE we never have to order anything complicated again! It looks better than the construction kraft paper we had hanging over the windows for 2 years.

  1. We're still waiting for rain here in Southern California. We need it badly and I guess we're in for 5-6 days of the wet stuph when it finally arrives ... maybe tonight.
    Hugs and blessings,

  2. Yes, it was raining hard. It canceled our flight from Lihue, but there are lots of others so we managed to reach Honolulu. It was still raining when we left your beautiful island to return to the snow and cold. So sad.

  3. It actually didn't rain here like was predicted, but this afternoon it turned so cold! Only supposed to be in the teens and twenties for the next few days. Fun to see the kids out playing in the rain. Takes more than a downpour to dampen their spirits! Your house is looking great! All your efforts are paying off!

  5. The roller blinds look great - and who's to know that they're the wrong way round. As long as they work it probably won't matter a jot. You've certainly had your fair share of rain, hope it clears up soon.

  6. Fun that kids can go out like that in the warm rain. Israel has only cold rain because it rains only in the winter.
The blinds are soft and pleasant looking. Enjoy them.

  7. Hi Kay! We had that kind of rain Thursday night. I don't remember ever having it rain so hard. We had and still have a lot of properties and roads flooded, but luckily, no major damage.

I love the blinds. They have a warm feel to them. Lisa

  8. The shades look great! And I think if you had put them up with the roller out, they would not lay flat and light would come in the sides...and make ya crazy.

  9. We live under downpours too, but it's too cold to play outside in it: those kids are lucky!

Thank you for the laugh about the kraft paper; it sounds like our house, except we do it to keep out the cold! Your new blinds are very pretty, and I love the way they turn the light to a glow.

    Way to go, Kay.
