Last of the Roller Shades, Craigslist

We have one crazy window that is over our stairs and difficult to reach. I asked Art how he was going to be able to hang the roller shades on it. Well, he remembered how the carpenters were getting to high places and copied their technique. Looked pretty precarious to me but it got the job done. Now, we just have four more windows to put vertical blinds on... once they arrive. Hopefully the reordered blinds will be correct this time.

In between getting the roller shades up we went on another Craigslist hunt. This time, it was a 4 feet high very heavy mirror. We'll hang it up tomorrow.

Art says I must have been a hunter gatherer in a past life. I hate to go shopping but I'm getting such a kick out of Craigslist. Maybe it's the idea of recycling. Maybe it's getting more for our money. Maybe it's sort of like gambling? I do tend to bargain. Art thinks it's all pretty funny.

Can you see the kraft paper behind me on one of the four windows we have left to work on?

P.S. Good grief! Would you believe it's still raining? The Hawaii Marathon was this morning and those runners got soaked!

  2. I'm impressed that you managed to stay and watch Art long enough to take a photograph - when Christopher does anything precarious I go right away and hold my breath until he's finished! You're working so hard on your house - is that because you want to get it done for Christmas, or you're just really keen to get moved in?

  3. LOL! I'm more like Amanda--I'd be in the corner thinking OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD... until he was finished. My husband does all sorts of insane things when he's fixing up the house.

Congratulations on getting (almost) all the blinds up!

  4. Art is brave, smart, and a mountaingoat! Kay, you look so cute in the doorway--like a ballerina.

  5. About your stiltwalker question: No , we are not used to seeing SUCH strange things there. But in the Central Bus Station everyone is always in a hurry to catch buses. I go in just for fun, to catch photos.

  6. Kay, if you were with me in the snow, with the temperature currently at 23 degrees (not including the wind chill factor), you'd feel much better about your rain. At least you know it's not going to turn to snow.

Your house project seems to be coming along nicely...and see, you're still able to wear shorts. I'm feeling sorry for myself.

  7. You guys are indeed working hard, but I know it's fun, too, of a sort because the end result will be so great! My son and I love CraigsList, too. Have gotten some great deals there. Hope you get it all done in time to sit back and enjoy over the holidays!

  8. Wow...the photo of Art on the "staging" was certainly something! How nicely he protected the walls too. What a beautiful mirror.

  10. The chamber of commerce wants me to remind you that it never rains here in Hawaii ;-)
    Aloha!

  11. Your mirror and mine look exactly the same, AND they are sitting in approximately the same position and place in our homes. I can't quite figure out where I want to put mine (it's been over a year, lol).

  12. Hi Kay, I have memories of being in Hawaii at this time of year. I woke up really early to this loud thud, thud, thud and went out to the balcony and saw all the runners in the Marathon. I had no idea it was on. It was fabulous to watch the runners go by the hotel.

As for Art all I can say is he is a brave man.
