We found a bug we'd never seen before and marveled at its pretty pattern.
Back inside, Tif laughed at me because we'd arranged the new sofa, loveseat, Broyhill coffee and end tables and then I covered them all with protective sheets and blankets. KC is very much into grinding her toys and milk bottle into everything.
Later, Art worked with my mom to find and make reservations for hotel rooms in Japan. We're planning to go next month and there's so much we have yet to do.
It's not an earth shaking day but we will cherish this gift of a day when nothing went terribly wrong, when we were able to enjoy each other and be together sharing laughter and love.
You're so right, ordinary family days are great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day, for sure. I love the photo of your mother laughing and clapping her hands at KC's cute antics. Your upcoming trip to Japan sounds great.
ReplyDeleteA trip to Japan! My brother called us from Sasebo back in the '60's.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure looking forward to touring with you and your camera.
I think that this post was a reminder to stop and smell the roses. Thank you for that, sometimes I forget to appreciate the blessing of the quiet normal days.
ReplyDeleteSheesh, that's quite the bug!!
ReplyDeleteLove the happiness in the photos!! Wonderful pictures... =D
I've heard so much about Japan. Isit the autumn/spring season now? I heard that the flowers at those times are BEAUTIFUL =) Hope you have lots of fun there.
ReplyDeleteThose are cute pictures of KC with her great Grandmother!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great family day, and those ARE special! KC & grandma are quite a pair.*Ü*
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit Japan. We have had 5 Homestay students from Japan. Each one brought us such joy and friendship. From teaching me to make really good gyoza to learning about the "Moon Maiden" (whose name I can never remember)every visit has been special!
Have a great day, Chris
love you new photo reflecting your new life by the beach and now planning a trip to japan-what part? my son served a mission for our church in hiroshima so we were able to pick him up and tour that area southern japan. beautiful country. great that your mom is enjoying her g grand child-be sure and get a 4 generation photo with all the girls. that will be precious especially when kc grows up to remember her g gma.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely correct, Kay. Normal, everyday activities should be cherished too, especially since eventually Tif and KC will have to go home.
ReplyDeleteLin's right, be sure and get a picture of the 4 generations of daughters.
I'm looking forward to your trip to Japan too. We'll all travel vicariously with you.
It's obvious that KC and her Great Grandmother adore each other! Love the photos... (and I agree with Lin and Jo, a photo of all 4 generations of mothers and daughters would be a wonderful keepsake!)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this day!! Full of sunshine and laughter and generations of women enjoying one another. Great Day to share with us. Thanks. Well...all except for the bug! Urp! I am not a bug person!! But, I am fascinated that you found beauty in it. I think that's pretty darn cool.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the affinity kids have with water a hoot?? How much longer do you get to have her with you? You may like taking the blankets off of the furniture when she leaves... but you will miss her SO MUCH!!! She's an adorable, inquisitive, finds joy in everything, little girl, isn't she? Is she a lot like Tif when she was her age?
Can't wait to go to Japan with you!!
My favorite toys when I was little was a box of plastic bottles of different sizes that my grandmother kept for bath time..a simple pleasure like your day...
ReplyDeleteStanley: It's summer in Japan right now, just like here in Hawaii. We're looking forward to seeing the fall colors of Hokkaido.
ReplyDeleteChris: How wonderful of you to host the homestay students. It helps to cultivate world understanding.
Lin: We're planning to go to Hokkaido, Sendai, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima and I forget what else. Art is very busy with the planning and going nuts over the high cost.
Jo, Lin and AppleDebbie: We did a 4 generation photo last year. You're right. It'll be nice to do another one.
Caryn: KC is very inquisitive, and in some ways much like Tif was. They'll be with us another month. It will be hard to say goodbye to them. We're cherishing every day that we have them.
Thank you for all your kind words everybody.
Have you taken a 4 generation photo of your mom, you, your daughter, and your granddaughter?
ReplyDeleteThat would be great!! And I, for one, would love to see it!
oops...I hadn't read the comments before me about the 4 generation picture being suggested.
