For more great Sky Watch Friday photos, join us at Sky Watch Friday and meet our very wonderful and most cordial host, Tom Wigley and his wife, Jane. The concept for Sky Watch came from Dot and has grown into a dedicated site for this growing meme, kindly hosted by Tom at Welcome to Wigger's World, Sandy Carlson from Writing in Faith and imac from imac's photos from the mind's eye.
I'm posting this a little early. I still don't know the time difference between England and Hawaii. I'll add my link to Tom's site later in the (my)day.
I think that is an improvement on what most towers look like. I wish we could get rid of all those big billboards along our highways..to me it's just more litter..
ReplyDeleteI saw similar camouflage near Las Vegas. Sort of strange, sort of funny, but the attempt is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely an "Ahaaa" moment. If you hadn't explained it, I would have thought it was a tall tall palm tree. The sky watch is beautiful -- as usual. Thanks for sharing. Also, thanks for your comments about Jordyn.
ReplyDeleteYour so fortunate to live in a climate where they hide cell towers in Palm Trees! Great Pic!
ReplyDeleteHow very cool. Other states could take lessons from Hawaii. I also agree with Michelle about billboards--they are in pockets all over here and you can't help but read them. I guess that's why they are there.
ReplyDeletehow funny, we have a cell phone tower disguised as a pine tree in utah. it is so fake looking with a flat top. will have to take a photo of it sometime. we also have obnoxious billboards every foot or two on the freeways.
ReplyDeleteThats different, great shot.
ReplyDeleteThe Team thanks you for your sky post and making this new venture a great success.
Someone creative thought of thet!
ReplyDeleteHeh... that's not a bad idea... we don't have that around here. Very cool but sheesh, that really is tall!!

Never seen something like it! That's pretty slick! Invites to get creative in Camouflage! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Klaus
Very interesting and surprising!!!
ReplyDeleteWell it looks like a tall tree to me! Very clever camouflage and great shot.
ReplyDeleteHello from Colorado. Very cool trees.
ReplyDeleteClever. Nice they try to disguise these things!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great SkyWatch! I saw them do this in South Africa, too.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah... at first I thought it was a palm tree! Hmmm.. that's very nice!
ReplyDeleteMy SWF is posted HERE.
Hope you can drop by. Happy weekends!
Now i wish that they could do that here, that is a great one.
ReplyDeleteKay, that really looks like a really tall coconut tree. It's amazing how today they can make anything look real!
ReplyDeleteThose trees just look so odd to me, but fantastic, and that cloud rolling in to bowl them over is great
ReplyDeleteNice! It looks so much better than the ugly towers here in the deep South. I have seen them in South Florida too.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, hope you are settling well in Hawaii - butI see that you do have a price to pay for living in paradise.
ReplyDeleteWe also have quite a few of those tall "palm trees". The first time I saw one I was quite taken aback that I had never noticed it before on that route :) We also have one that has been made to look like a lighthouse.
Have a great weekend
Bonjour, Kay! "Louis" thanks you for visiting San Francisco Bay Daily Photo!
ReplyDelete"Louis" hopes you're settling in OK there in, as you say, (expensive) paradise!
It's definitely an improvement for the cell tower. :) Great shot!
ReplyDeleteI agree I wish they all looked like that nice clouds in the sky.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Really? LOL That's ingenious! Beautiful photo :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture this makes... I would never have guessed it was a tower..
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the sky watch team on their new venture… I hope you enjoy your sky watching and come back for more.
Tom
Wonderful picture..
ReplyDeleteAfter long and bitter discussions residents have sold their house and moved because the phone company wanted to build a cell tower close by.
Thank you for your comment.
- Cheers rom Canada.
You had me on this one. I just knew it was a palm tree. What a creative way to hide ugliness! Great & informative SWF shot!
ReplyDeleteThat's great! Our cell towers look like cell towers with a few thinly disguised to look like pine trees. This one actually works. Now all it needs is some coconuts left at its base....hehe Thanks for visiting me. I'm so glad I joined up with SWF. Great group of folks and talent!
ReplyDeleteThe company I work for has antennas on towers, these stealth towers are better neighbors than the ugly sticks in the ground. Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteGolly a telephone tower! Who woulda thunk it! I do like that cloud that is lurking in that there corner ...
ReplyDeleteWe have a cell tower here in Connecticut "disquised" as a ginormous pine tree. It's odd looking, but better than the standard undisguised ones.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, that is a better looking cell tower, is it grean? I know not real green, but at least colored green?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the welcome. I like 'awsome' whenever.
..
Freakishly high palm tree! I agree with you though... It is nice that they are trying to blend them in a little better with the surroundings... someone must have realized they were killing our composition. Nice building in your clouds here... How's Hawaii?!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is great! Thanks for showing us how things CAN be, Kay.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I just photographed a date palm tree in Jerusalem a few hours ago--because, strangely, its extra-thick trunk had a big Israeli flag on it. I prefer just plain palm trees, without flags and without radiation.

What a great picture! I love palm trees - even if they are disguised cell towers!! Sounds like you are at an interesting point in your life and that you are enjoying yourself. Good for you!!!
ReplyDeleteBefore I read the last bit of your post, I thought the cell tower, was a palm tree! That is really neat! Great photo!
ReplyDeleteWe have a cell tower here that looks like an immense pine tree. My kids call it a "Toothbrush Tree" because of the way it is completely and utterly, unnaturally spiky.

Greate Sky Watch post.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, from AnneKa in Norway
Great capture! LOL
ReplyDeleteConsidering where it is, the camouflage is much better than a regular tower. I like that tree underneath it, so perfectly shaped.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to have a cell tower look native to the area. I wish more place would adopt this concept. Lisa
