Jet Lagged in Hawaii
Tif and KC are here! They arrived safely yesterday but the 5 hour time difference and 9 hour flight time took its toll on all three. Ed continued on his connecting flight to Kauai. Tif and KC were exhausted. KC had a hard time falling asleep and was up this morning at 3:00 AM. We brought her into our bedroom so that her mommy could get some rest.
We took a trip to visit my aunt in Pauoa Valley at the foothills of Punchbowl crater. The crater holds a National cemetery. My aunt is a true gardener and shared a lot of her fabulous lettuce and swiss chard with us. Hawaii is an expensive place to live but with everybody sharing what they have, we can be comfortable.
This is my aunt's dog. His name is Poochie and he's not liking the hot Hawaiian sun here.
KC slept through the entire visit. She is thoroughly jet lagged and is a teeny bit on the crabby side. When she first saw us she reached out with a little frown on her face as if to say, "Where have you two been?"
This evening Art planted a papaya tree at the side of the house. KC had fun helping to water it. We hope it will yield some delicious fruit that we can share also.

Kay... I love all of your pictures but the photo of Art and KC
ReplyDeletewatering the papaya tree is
absolutely precious! Thanks for putting a smile on my face today!
I'm so glad Tiffany and KC have arrived safely, although tiredly. You'll have so much fun with them over the next few weeks. Savor every moment, as I know you will. Loved your photos.
ReplyDeleteah, jet lag i remember it well. used to make frequent trips to sweden. when my last son was younger than 2 we flew to london. of course he was awake for the whole flight then when we got to london airport he slept for hours. it takes a few days to readjust your nights and days but it will come. just try to keep the little one awake during the days. how fun that your family is there to enjoy. enjoy them-we'll know where you are if you don't blog as often.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet there was a lot of hugging at the grandchild's return!! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteSo glad they made it safely and we totally understand about jet-lag in our family! I am sure in a couple of days they will be in fine fettle again.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are settling in nicely, love the thought of having a papaya tree.
KC holding the hose as Art waters a baby tree. The idea of you planting a tree whose fruit you will someday enjoy. . . I dunno why exactly, but seeing this picture brought me tears. So happy that you can live on an island of peace and sanity, of sharing and planting.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all, dear Kay.
That baby is adorable. The garden and the doghouse are very interesting. Such a neat way to handle a garden. Food for thought, Kay!
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite pic is Tif sleeping in her carseat. It makes me just want to pick her up and never put her down. She looks absolutely adorable!! I'm so envious. I was supposed to have my second born son and my eldest grandson stay with me for a week while my husband is hiking in Wyoming. I just got a call this morning telling me I may have to take them back this afternoon, four days early. hisssss... booooo...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everyone arrived safe and sound..the photos of KC are precious Kay
ReplyDeleteWell, KC looks like a little Hawaiian already. Love the sleeping in the car seat pic.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time, Gramma.
kay, I know the enjoyment and joy you are feeling with the visit of your grandaughter. We will have two of our little ones with us for the next two weeks and it is such a treasured time to anticipate and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your kind comments on my blog, I appreciate your visits.
I know you are going to have the best visit! I am smiling just thinking about it! Love the tree! It will be something for KC to remember as she gets older! You ought to photograph her next to the tree on every visit.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful time with your granddaughter and daughter. It sounds like your settling in just fine!
ReplyDeleteJet lag? Yes. Resting up for adventures in a new place? Priceless. I love the tree. Guess it will bear fruit - what? About the time KC goes to junior high? She'll enjoy looking back at herself "helping" water it. lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a doll! Hopefully you'll keep us up to date with the progress of the papaya tree ? seedling?
