The Winnetka Rummage Sale used to be billed as the Largest Rummage Sale in the World. I think it may have been eclipsed by another church but it is still huge! It is held every 2nd Thursday in May. My friend, Peggy and I first started going to the SALE when our babies were still in strollers. Today my baby is all grown up and we went together with her baby. It was just as much fun and we went home with quite a HUGE haul for our little KC. Clothes! Books! Toys! One toy in particular fascinated me. As much as I've complained to my daughter that too many toys need batteries these days, this one is rather wonderful. It's called Alphabet Pal. When you press the legs it will either give you the color of the feet, the sound of the letter or the name of the letter. It will also play music. KC loves it. I think the price was about $2.00. Peggy, if you're reading this... Do you remember?

ReplyDeleteSound like a great find1 I think I'm having my secon childhood too--always looking for toys for the grandchildren--isn't it glorious?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely. I have such fun at this rummage sale. Winnetka is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the state so the quality of their cast offs are wonderful indeed.
ReplyDeleteI always loved a good rummage sale. Haven't been to one since the kids grew up.
ReplyDeleteYour picutres bring back such fond memories. My, my, my - look at the time. Guess I'm the one having insomnia tonight (?today?)
Talk again later.
I used to help run jumble sales when my boys were little - that way I got to pick through the goodies without having to contend with the crowds. Much easier.
ReplyDeleteI'd LOVE to attend this rummage sale. I love browsing for treasures.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the best things about rummage sales is you're hitting 2 of the 3 Rs. You're Reducing and Reusing garbage. And there's something really wonderful about finding a real bargain.... or bargains!
